Senior DevOps Engineer

📣  A bit about the role:

As a Senior DevOps Engineer within our Foundations Tribe, you’ll play a critical role in shaping the future of our infrastructure and developer experience. Initially, your focus will be on optimizing our CI/CD pipelines to boost developer velocity and reviewing our monitoring and observability setup, with evaluating our use of Heroku on the list. This role offers a mix of technical leadership, hands-on problem-solving and cross-team collaboration. You’ll work closely with engineers, a technical product manager and stakeholders to design scalable, efficient, and resilient systems.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Enhance and streamline our continuous integration and deployment pipelines to improve reliability and speed.
  • Review and improve our monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure system health and rapid issue resolution.
  • Database monitoring work on database monitoring and alerting to proactively prevent performance bottlenecks.
  • We estimate this role will be approximately 60% focused on developer experience vs 40% infrastructure work. 
👋  A bit about you:
  • Proven experience as a DevOps or Platform Engineer, with hands-on expertise.
  • Strong AWS and Terraform skills, with a track record of designing and managing cloud-based systems.
  • Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines and best practices to improve software delivery speed and reliability.
  • Passion for developer velocity, continuously finding ways to make engineers more productive.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • Self-starter mindset, able to take ownership of projects and drive them forward without needing explicit direction.
  • Bonus Points for experience with:
    • Experience with Ruby on Rails and optimising set up
    • Measuring and improving developer productivity using DORA metrics.
    • PostgreSQL, and security best practices.
