People & Culture Partner

Amsterdam

People & Culture Partner Benelux

(Also known as HR Partner / People Partner / Talent Acquisition & People Operations Specialist)

Location: Amsterdam (Hybrid: 3 days in office, 2 from home)

🐾 A bit about us

At Butternut Box, we put the food back into dog food. We believe dogs deserve to eat the healthiest, most natural and tastiest food, made with love and none of the nasties. That’s why we make freshly prepared dog food - cooked like you would at home, delivered in perfect portions.

We’re a certified B Corp, and that means we care deeply about our people, our product, and our planet. As a rapidly growing scale-up, we’re on a mission to make dogs healthier and happier across Europe - and we know that starts with building an amazing team.

Our Amsterdam office is home to around 25 Butternutters (and plenty of dogs 🐕). We work hybrid: Monday and Friday from home, Tuesday to Thursday together in our office on the Weteringschans overlooking the canal, right above Vijzelgracht metro station, surrounded by great coffee and lunch places.

📣 A bit about the role

We’re looking for a People & Culture Partner Benelux who’s eager to make an impact and grow with us. You’ll play a key part in shaping our People & Culture agenda across the Netherlands and Belgium, supporting our teams with everything from hiring and onboarding to engagement and HR operations.

One of your main focus areas will be recruitment - you’ll be in the lead to find amazing Brand Ambassadors and other key hires across Benelux. You’ll report to the People Manager Benelux and work closely with Sales Leadership and Global People Teams.

You’ll also support the implementation and management of our new HRIS (HiBob), improving how we manage data and employee experience.

This is the perfect opportunity for a high-potential, hands-on generalist. This role offers a chance to develop your skill set in all HR areas and make a real impact within our growing company. You’ll have support from a team that genuinely cares.

This initially is a 1-year maternity cover role, but it is likely for this role to become a long-term (permanent) position.

In this role, you can expect to:

Recruitment

  • Own end-to-end hiring for our Direct Sales (Brand Ambassador) teams in the Netherlands, Flanders and Wallonia.
  • Manage job postings, candidate communication, screening calls and interviews with care and efficiency.
  • Partner with hiring managers to plan workforce needs and build strong pipelines.
  • Innovate with methods to generate better and bigger candidate inflow, experiment with different ad platforms and sourcing strategies.
  • Collaborate with our Talent Team to refine our employer brand and improve recruitment processes.
  • Occasionally support with hiring for other office based positions across the Benelux or beyond.

People Operations & Culture

  • Be the go-to person for People-related topics in the Direct Sales teams across the Netherlands and Belgium.
  • You’re the main point of contact for the Direct Sales Managers on topics such as performance management, long term absence and how to drive engagement within their Brand Ambassador teams.
  • Manage HR administration, contracts, and compliance while ensuring a great employee experience.
  • Coordinate payroll input and liaise with external HR partners.
  • Support the rollout and daily use of our new HRIS (HiBob).
  • Continuously look for ways to automate and optimise our HR processes, so you can spend more time on value adding activities.
  • Bring our Butternut values to life by helping create an inclusive, fun and supportive culture.

👋 What you’ll need to succeed

These are the essentials - the things that will help you hit the ground running:

  • Experience in HR, People Operations, or Talent, ideally in a scale-up or fast-moving environment.
  • Genuine interest in both recruitment and HR (you don’t need to be an expert in both - we’ll help you grow).
  • Fluent in Dutch and English (French is a big plus).
  • Available full-time and preferably ready to start in January 2026 (or early Feb).
  • Organised, proactive, and great at juggling multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication skills - approachable, clear, and positive.
  • A real people person who’s passionate about culture, growth, and making a difference.

🌟 What would make you stand out

If you have some of these, even better (but they’re not deal breakers if not):

  • Experience across both Dutch and Belgian HR processes or employment law.
  • Experience with HiBob or similar HRIS systems.
  • Background in recruitment (either in-house or agency-side).
  • Knowledge of HR administration and basic payroll coordination.
  • Experience supporting field or sales teams.
  • A drive to take ownership and grow your career in People & Culture.

🙌 What we offer

  • 💰 Competitive gross annual salary of 45-50k EUR (depending on experience, incl. 8% holiday allowance)
  • 💛 Equity options (your success = our success)
  • 🏖️ 25 vacation days + 1 extra day per year of service
  • 🐾 5 extra 'paws' days per year for personal growth or wellbeing
