As a Class 1 (HGV) Driver supporting our manufacturing and fulfilment operations at Rudie’s Kitchen and Aces Pantry, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the safe, smooth and timely movement of trailers across our sites. We offer a competitive wage of £12.84 per hour plus a shift premium of 20% (£15.41 per hour) base salary is £27,468, with 20% (£32,961)

 

👋  A bit about the role

As a Class 1 (HGV) Driver, you will:

• • • Safely move Class 1 vehicles and trailers between Rudie’s Kitchen, Aces Pantry and the adjoining public road.

    • Carry out on-site shunting, ensuring trailers are positioned correctly for loading, unloading and storage.

    • Complete pre-start checks on vehicles and trailers, identifying and reporting any defects.

    • Follow all safety procedures and wear the correct PPE at all times.

    • Coordinate with Warehouse and Production teams to ensure smooth trailer flow and minimal downtime.

    • Conduct basic quality and safety checks to ensure compliance with site and legislative standards.

    • Assist with stock movements and support site logistics where needed to keep operations running efficiently.

    • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and operate with a “clean as you go” mindset.

    • Occasionally attend daily review meetings and contribute to performance discussions.

At Butternut, our mission is to deliver health and happiness to dogs and their humans all over the world. In order to do just that, we need a hard-working team. And we need quite a big kitchen too. Which is precisely why we have built one.

Located in Doncaster, Rudie's Kitchen is where our Butternut meals (we currently have 12 recipes) will be gently cooked, using human-quality ingredients. Rudie's is also where we will be packaging our meals and boxing them for our customers all over the UK. We are a close nit team, with a that family feel, looking to welcome more like minded people to our lovely team and keep work life fun and enjoyable.

We are pleased to say, this is a full-time permanent contract, you will be working a rolling average of 41 hours per week working on a shift rotation with a mixture of days / nights and some weekend working. The working shifts days consisting of 7am to 7pm and nights consisting of 7pm-7am.

Such as:

• 4 on/ 4 off = 2 day, 2 nights
• 5 on, 5 off = 3 days, 2 nights
• 5 on, 5 off = 2 days, 3 nights

• You have proven experience as a Class 1 (HGV) driver - this is essential for the role.

• Safety is your top priority, and you always operate vehicles with care, precision and compliance.

• You’re confident manoeuvring trailers in tight or busy yard environments.

• You’re reliable, proactive and happy working in a fast-paced operational setting.

• You communicate clearly with colleagues and work well as part of a wider team.

• You take pride in maintaining high standards - from vehicle checks to supporting a tidy, well-run yard.

• This role is 100% based in our kitchen in Blyth, Doncaster (just off the Junction of A1(M) and A614 Hill Top Roundabout, Blyth S81 8HG)
