Strategy Analyst

The Strategy Analyst drives growth and innovation at Produce Alliance by leading data-driven projects that enhance reporting systems, optimize existing accounts, and support new business development. Collaborating across multiple business units, this role delivers insights that enable revenue growth and operational efficiencies. Through strategic analysis, the analyst directly contributes to improved decision-making and the company’s overall business performance.

We value the impact and connection that comes from regular in-person collaboration. While this candidate will ideally work from our Chicago, IL office, we are also accepting remote applications at this time. We are unable to offer work sponsorship for this role.

Produce Alliance specializes in delivery of fresh produce to restaurants and other foodservice operators at higher quality and better prices. We provide produce category management services including procurement, national distribution, information services and food safety assurance to foodservice clients across North America. With a specialized focus on fast food (QSR), non-traditional, c-store, fast casual, GPO, and healthcare segments, they're redefining fresh produce sourcing. Produce Alliance manages partnerships with over 150 independently owned specialty distributors and collaborate with over 100 premium grower shippers. Your impact:

  • Conduct internal account reviews to identify areas of opportunity and risk, create recommendations, and track trends and progress over time.
  • Complete ad-hoc requests from Account Management and Supply Chain teams, such as conducting contract vs. market pricing analyses, pulling and reporting on USDA market pricing, and procuring and cleaning requested data.
  • Create and edit Tableau Dashboards for a variety of internal data needs with a focus on usability, quick identification of trends, and reporting needs.
  • Work with data from a variety of sources, including purchase orders, sales and revenue, pricing and contracts, quality claims, USDA AMS Specialty Crop pricing reports, and USDA NASS crop reports.
  • Prepare large datasets for analysis by aggregating datasets through the creation of ontology systems.
  • Ensure the highest level of data quality and integrity by conducting data testing to identify anomalies, bad data points, or missing data.
  • Prepare and give presentations on significant team initiatives, project findings, and data trends to relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist with implementation and maintenance of internal SaaS and data tools, including Tableau and Jira.
  • Research new topics related to business interests as needed, such as international markets, weather and climate events in significant growing regions, and industry trends.

About you:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Data Science, or a related field
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in an analytics role, or exceptional performance in relevant coursework during degree program with evidence of quantitative and qualitative analysis required
  • Experience in agriculture, produce, and/or supply chain a plus
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team on multiple projects at a time
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate questions and ideas, lead conversations, and present data findings and trends
  • Eagerness and ability to learn new skills and expand knowledge base
  • Exceptional time management and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Familiar with Tableau and using it to monitor data trends, comfortable creating and editing dashboards
  • Experience using Excel formulas and pivot tables to analyze data
  • Comfortable with large, complex, and messy datasets that require cleaning and aggregating
  • Able to analyze multiple datasets consistently and accurately while identifying trends
  • Responsible management of working hours remotely, with occasional travel required
  • Experience with Jira, Salesforce, and/or SQL a plus
