The Role

Cocoa Butter is looking for a Video Producer to join our team in a freelance position with potential to move to full time employment. The Video Producer will support Cocoa Butter across multiple platforms by creating long form content from a Black perspective.

In this role you will collaborate with the Executive Producer and fellow producers to create videos for YouTube and manage strategy for Cocoa Butter as a brand. You will excel in an autonomous work environment and can juggle multiple priority projects at once. We're looking for someone who is willing to take on new challenges with a curious attitude and who is interested in growing the brand to its full potential. You MUST be excited by the challenges of new content initiatives and can handle a fluctuating workload. Creativity and a collaborative spirit are essential for this role!

The candidate needs to be able to commute to our Los Angeles office. This is a part-time 30 hours a week position, working Monday-Friday, with the possibility of extending to full-time employment.

You Will

  • Based on our needs, ideate, shoot your own content, or adapt/improve content & formats we already have in place. 
  • Edit content using Adobe Premiere Pro and the CC suite
  • Collaborate with the team to identify new formats and develop strategy for Cocoa Butter.
  • Create content for YouTube, Tik Tok, Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms. 
  • Appear as talent in content as needed. 
  • Provide creative notes on your videos and other team members videos. 
  • Stay in the know about what’s trending online in the Black community and successfully iterate off that content. 
  • Collaborate with the team to grow Cocoa Butter’s reach and audience. 
  • Help manage and support freelance video producer contributions to the channel by approving concepts, giving notes, and packaging final deliverables.
  • Work with a production manager on budget, paperwork and logistics for your videos.

You Have

  • 4+ years of experience creating digital video content & excel under the pressure of a deadline
  • Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro and the entire CC suite
  • Are comfortable with most video codecs and formats
  • Ability to manage multiple projects throughout the various stages of production
  • Extremely knowledgeable about all social platforms including Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Instagram and Youtube
  • Passionate about the internet and creating digital video content for the Black community
  • Great communication skills and can give and receive critical feedback in a small team environment
  • Meticulous, technical, organized, and creative at the same time
  • Experience behind a camera and knowledge of lighting and sound equipment
  • Intersectional and mindful with your storytelling. We want producers who celebrate inclusivity.
