Equanime - Senior Analyst – Power & Utilities (Fundamental Strategy)
BWGI, the wholly owned asset manager of Brasil Warrant, has formed the Equity Multi-Strategy Platform as an additional investment vertical. The Equity Multi-Strategy Platform expects to hire portfolio managers across fundamental, systematic, flow-based and event-driven equity alpha strategies. Brasil Warrant has been in existence for over 100 years, managing, operating and acting as a controlling shareholder of businesses across various industries, including financial services. BWGI provides the infrastructure, processes and capital of a large-scale institutional asset manager while, at the same time, offering duration, permanence and a long-term investment horizon.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Analyst to join our Power & Utilities investment team. This individual will play a critical role in expanding our sector coverage and driving differentiated investment ideas. The ideal candidate will have relevant domain experience, a demonstrated ability to grow into a senior investor, and a strong cultural fit with both our team and the broader firm.
This is a high-impact role focused on fundamental, bottom-up investing. You will be responsible for generating insights, conducting independent research, and eventually contributing directly to portfolio decisions in collaboration with the Portfolio Manager (PM).
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct primary research on companies and subsectors within the Power & Utilities industry to surface differentiated trade and investment ideas.
- Build and maintain financial models with minimal supervision, ensuring analytical rigor and consistency.
- Creatively source new information, including expert calls, fieldwork, and industry publications, driven by a strong commercial instinct.
- Identify and cultivate a network of reliable industry contacts and sources to support idea generation and ongoing coverage.
- Participate in company management meetings and industry discussions, providing actionable insights to the team.
- Contribute to investment discussions by generating and refining trade ideas, including risk/reward analysis, catalysts, and exit strategies.
- Collaborate with the PM to optimize position sizing, structure hedges, and manage risk across the book.
- Adapt to a fast-paced, high-conviction investment style, where rapid decision-making, intellectual flexibility, and proactive communication are valued.

Experience & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- 2+ years of buy-side experience specifically focused on the Utility sector.
- 5+ years of total experience across buy-side or sell-side roles covering Utilities, which may include equity research, investment banking, or strategic industry roles.
Other Preferred Qualifications
- Track record of independent, fundamental research and idea generation.
- Strong financial modeling skills and comfort analyzing earnings, valuation, and capital structure dynamics.
- Intellectual curiosity with a drive to uncover insights others might overlook.
- Demonstrated maturity and leadership qualities, with the potential to grow into a broader senior role over time.
- Willingness to relocate to or work from the NYC area (in-person presence required).
