Our Culture
Our culture is anchored in excellence, meaning constant improvement, and it is deeply tied to our mission. Because markets are objective, competitive, and getting smarter everyday, we need to keep rapidly improving to have any chance of beating them. Truth is our most essential tool for engaging with the markets and constantly improving because once you know what's true about your problems and opportunities, you can determine how to get better. Valuing truth means being transparent about your decision-making and mistakes, giving and receiving feedback with humility, and fighting for the best answers over hierarchy, ego, or self-interest. Operating this way is hard – it's only possible because we build meaning in our work and relationships. This meaning comes from the audacity of the mission, and the joy of working alongside people who make you a better version of yourself. The culture, like Bridgewater itself, is always evolving. In 1997 our founder Ray Dalio wrote down his lessons, starting with a Philosophy Statement which remains our foundation. This later evolved into a set of 300+ Principles. In 2022, when Ray transitioned the company, we re-underwrote several of those principles and evolved others, with a specific focus on Meritocracy. Today the culture sits, alongside our people, as our most important edge. When we get it right, it’s the engine that powers everything else.
About Your Role
This is a high-stakes Executive support role at the epicenter of the firm. You will serve as the physical and operational extension of the CIO. This position is focused on high-fidelity execution, extreme reliability, and the grit to handle the tactical details that keep a C-Suite Executive moving.
You are the shadow that ensures the CIO’s day-to-day life is frictionless. This role offers a direct window into the operational rhythm of the Alpha Engine and broader company.
Responsibilities:
- Operational Readiness: Own the physical environment. This includes conference room setup, cleaning up post-meeting, and ensuring the CIO is physically where he needs to be for his next engagement.
- Run Daily Scheduling Machines: Manage the run-of-show, ensuring the CIO is set up well for the day - coordinate with drivers, handle badge access, and other daily operations upon arrival to facilitate a seamless transition into the workday.
- Logistical Command: Execute high-frequency tactical needs: managing food lunch deliveries, booking conference rooms, creating Zoom links, and coordinating wardrobe requirements for specific events.
- Meticulous Document Control: Manage a high volume of printing and document prep with responsiveness, including evenings and weekends sometimes.
- Home Team Liaison: Serve as the primary bridge between the CIO’s professional office and his home team. You will orchestrate drivers, return printed materials, and sync personal plans with work needs.
- Administration & Events: Handle expense reporting, manage travel and visas, and assist in the planning and execution of community events such as book clubs and speaker series.
- Chief of Staff Partnership: You will partner closely with the Chief of Staff, providing coverage when they are out-of-office and learning to navigate tradeoffs and escalations under their guidance.
Core Attributes:
- Extreme Reliability: You derive satisfaction from a perfectly executed day and a flawless schedule. You are willing to roll up your sleeves for any task, no matter how small, to benefit the team.
- High Professionalism & Discretion: You possess the emotional intelligence to handle highly sensitive information and the instinct to remain calm in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
- Unshakeable Grit: You are a fixer. You remain level-headed when faced with rapidly evolving situations and persistent ambiguity.
