SUMMARY JOB DESCRIPTION 

BYD is seeking an experienced Field Technician for the Customer Service Aftersales Department. The field technician will be responsible for working at various on-site customer facilities as needed on 100% Battery Electric (BEV) commercial trucks (up to and including class 8 vehicles) in diagnosing, repairing, and maintenance including warranty, technical service bulletins (TSB’s) and OEM service campaigns as required for BYD truck customer vehicles.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  1. Under general supervision of the Customer Service Manager or Supervisor, the Technician will complete work assignments at Customer Facilities, BYD Locations and may be asked to perform other maintenance duties as assigned.
  2. Perform diagnosis and repairs of warranty-related issues. Provide Customer interface and reports on field maintenance activities. 
  3. Responds to Customer requests, comments, or complaints as needed. Assist Customer with maintenance-related issues.
  4. Order parts as needed, coordinate repairs and provide daily Service reports/Parts requisitions as needed.
  5. Coordinates new vehicle delivery acceptance with Customers in US and Canada
  6. Provide daily status reporting to Customer Service Manager/Supervisor. 
  7. Follows up with Parts clerks for parts availability and ETA. 8. Must be able to work on High-Voltage Components or have a general knowledge of High Voltage.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Knowledge of Transit Bus or Commercial Truck maintenance operations and field service support.
  2. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of two years of experience.
  3. ASE Transit Bus or Commercial Truck Certifications are preferred but not required.
  4. Transit bus or Commercial truck Technician experience, preferably working in a field service environment at various on-site customer facilities.
  5. Experienced in Bus or Commercial Truck maintenance and repair. Experience with computer based diagnostics in bus or truck maintenance operations. Experience with bus or truck Electric drive systems preferred.
  6. Ability to travel both locally and throughout North America (specific locations to discuss individually in FL, CA, and IL) to work in the Customer’s environment, locations and facilities. Weekends, nights, and long hours can and will occur.
  7. License: Must possess a valid driver’s license in home state and no more than one infraction during previous three years. Class B with Passenger Endorsement preferred, if not at this time, the ability to obtain class B at a later date is ideal.

Hiring Range

$25 - $30 per hour

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
