Human Resources Generalist

Key Responsibilities:
1. Employee Lifecycle Management

Manages end-to-end employee lifecycle processes including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and offboarding.

Conducts exit interviews and provides actionable feedback to management.
- Maintains and updates personnel files and employee records in compliance with internal policies and legal requirements.
2. Compliance & Policy Administration
-
Advises management and employees on HR policies, procedures, and labor law compliance (e.g., FMLA/CFRA, PDL, ADA, Workers’ Compensation).

Ensures proper documentation of HR actions and communications to meet regulatory and audit requirements.
3. Recruitment & Onboarding

Conducts job postings, screens candidates, and supports hiring for entry-level to professional roles.

Facilitates pre-employment checks and onboarding procedures.
4. Attendance & Timekeeping
-
Resolves employee attendance inquiries and discrepancies.

Reviews and analyzes timecard data to ensure accuracy and improve labor efficiency.
5. Performance Management
-
Coordinates the performance review process, ensuring timely completion and documentation.

Supports supervisors in setting performance goals and improvement plans.
6. Training & Development
-
Organizes and facilitates training programs, including new hire orientation and ongoing development initiatives.
7. Employee Relations

Provides guidance on employee relations issues including conflict resolution, performance concerns, and disciplinary actions.

Assists in handling complaints, investigations, and responses to EEOC/DFEH matters.
8. Labor Relations

Partners with the HR Manager in managing union-related activities.

Supports grievance handling processes and ensures proper documentation.
9. Benefits & Claims Administration

Administers employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, and open enrollment communications.

Manages unemployment and workers' compensation claims, ensuring timely reporting and follow-up.
Competencies and job requirements:
- Human Resources expertise. Customer/Client Focus. Ethical Conduct. Personal Effectiveness/Credibility. Consultation, business acumen and communication.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resource management or a related field or equivalent education, training and experience.
- 2-4 years of experience in an human resources generalist or related role
- PHR OR SHRM-CP certification preferred.
Pay Range: $70,000 - $85,000 per year
