Junior Security Engineer

Rotterdam | Full-time | Hybrid (remote-friendly)

At Bynder, we believe security should never be an afterthought. We’re looking for a Security Engineer who thrives in a growth-oriented environment—someone who sees compliance as a starting point, not the finish line. If you’re curious by nature, eager to automate at scale, and passionate about building smart, cloud-native security solutions that drive business outcomes, you’ll feel right at home here.

Meet the team

We’re Bynder’s Security team—seasoned, sharp, and relentlessly focused on enabling secure growth. Our approach is rooted in pragmatism and innovation: we favor automation over repetition and focus on smart integrations that make security, compliance, and detection seamless across our stack.

You’ll be based in our Rotterdam HQ, reporting to the Technical Security Lead. In this role, you’ll help drive security automation, accelerate threat detection and response, and collaborate across teams to strengthen our platform and protect our customers.

Security at Bynder is a team sport. We work hand-in-hand with DevOps, developers, and business stakeholders to challenge assumptions, take calculated risks, and continuously learn. It’s how we scale securely—and it’s part of how we win together.

What you’ll do

  • Automate security controls and detection across our AWS environment using services like Security Hub, GuardDuty, Inspector, and AWS Config.
  • Integrate our compliance tooling (Vanta) with the broader engineering ecosystem to streamline evidence gathering and enforcement of controls.
  • Improve visibility and risk prioritization through our CSPM platform—AWS Security Hub.
  • Collaborate with our DevOps and Development teams and advocate for security in Development decisions and infrastructure design.
  • Conduct threat modeling sessions with developers and continuously improve security practices across the software development lifecycle.
  • Respond to security incidents and contribute to maturing our detection, response, and post-incident analysis workflows.
  • Drive continuous improvement in vulnerability management using tools like Snyk, Jamf, SIEM, and network/web scanners.
  • Help us treat security as code—automating wherever possible to reduce friction and improve scalability.

What you bring

  • 1–3 years of hands-on experience in cloud security, preferably within AWS.
  • A strong automation mindset and experience scripting or building pipelines to automate detection or response workflows.
  • Familiarity with AWS-native security services (Security Hub, GuardDuty, Inspector, etc.) and a clear understanding of secure cloud infrastructure design.
  • Experience with Terraform or a keen interest in infrastructure-as-code principles.
  • Comfort with modern security tooling: Snyk, Okta, Vanta, Jamf, and vulnerability scanners.
  • A collaborative and proactive attitude—you seek solutions and enjoy working with engineers to find practical answers.
  • Strong communication skills—you can explain security concerns in a way that resonates with both tech and non-tech stakeholders.
  • A growth mindset—you’re constantly learning and improving, and you see failure as an opportunity to get better.

Bonus points if you…

  • Have written detection logic, automated responses, or built alerting pipelines.
  • Contributed to or led security incident response playbooks.
  • Have experience in secure CI/CD, IaC scanning, or securing cloud workloads at scale.
  • Tinker with tools, write security scripts, or keep a personal GitHub with automation projects.

What’s in it for you?

  • A flat organization where your ideas matter and your impact is tangible.
  • A supportive team that believes in security with the business—not against it.
  • Endless learning and development opportunities to help you grow as a Security Engineer and beyond.
  • Exposure to a broad, modern cloud-native security stack across a high-growth SaaS platform.
  • Flexibility to work from home, with weekly office meetups in our beautiful Rotterdam HQ.
  • Competitive salary and benefits.
  • Unlimited vacation policy.
  • Apple gear, daily lunch, and team events organized by our legendary Fun Force.
