Legal Counsel, Compliance (AI & Privacy) - Job Description
About the role:
The Bynder Legal Team is looking for a Legal Counsel, Compliance (AI & Privacy) to join the Bynder Legal Team in Amsterdam. As Legal Counsel, Compliance (AI & Privacy), you’ll be a trusted partner to the Product, Information Security, and Leadership teams, playing a key role in building Bynder’s compliance culture and supporting the development of responsible, innovative AI-driven products. You’ll report directly to the Chief Legal Officer (CLO) and help implement our global Privacy Management System while actively shaping Bynder’s AI governance strategy. What you will do:
AI Compliance
- Advise on the legal, regulatory, and ethical implications of AI initiatives across Bynder’s product suite.
- Partner with Product and Engineering teams to ensure AI systems are designed, developed, and deployed responsibly, in alignment with evolving regulations such as the EU AI Act and US AI laws.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and iterate on Bynder’s internal AI policies, and implement frameworks for risk assessments, transparency, and accountability.
- Monitor global developments in AI laws and standards, translating them into actionable, business-friendly guidance.
Privacy Compliance
- Help implement and maintain Bynder’s Privacy Program, including:
- Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and in-product Cookie Banner compliance
- Transfer Impact Assessments (TIAs) for sub-processors in coordination with InfoSec
- Sub-processor assessments
- Data mapping and data retention policy enforcement across systems and platforms
- Responding to and managing Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs)
- Lead privacy-related projects with multiple stakeholders across departments, ensuring smooth execution and communication.
Compliance Advocacy
- Stay ahead of evolving laws such as the EU AI Act, Digital Services Act, GDPR, and international privacy frameworks.
- Deliver clear, strategic guidance on how global legal developments affect Bynder’s operations, products, and vendor relationships.
- Contribute to internal training, awareness, and policy development initiatives to foster a compliance-first mindset across the business.
- Support supplier assessments involving AI or high-risk data processing components.
What you have:
- 3–5 years of legal experience, ideally with a mix of top-tier law firm and in-house exposure.
- An LLM degree from a reputable university, preferably with a focus on technology, data protection, or international business law.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills – you can explain complex legal concepts in a clear, business-friendly way.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); Dutch, French, or German is a plus but not a must.
- A strong interest in AI, privacy, and compliance, and a desire to work on cutting-edge regulatory topics.
- You are highly organized, you have an eye for detail, and you don't let things slip through the cracks.
- You’re motivated, proactive, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Business-savvy mindset – you understand how legal and compliance decisions impact the company’s goals and customers.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, tech-driven environment with multiple priorities.
- You are already based in the Netherlands.
