Pre-Sales Engineer

United States

The Presales Senior Engineer is a senior technical presales leader responsible for owning complex sales engagements, shaping solution strategy, and guiding the development of high-quality proposals, estimates, and statements of work. This role partners with sales, delivery, and presales architects to align customer requirements with C3’s service portfolio and Reference Architecture standards while reducing risk and improving solution quality.

C3 Integrated Solutions works with U.S. federal and defense contractors, many of whom are small and mid-sized businesses in aerospace, manufacturing, or technology, to implement and manage IT systems and security controls that support CMMC Level 2 compliance requirements. The role must be able to position and scope solutions aligned to C3’s Reference Architecture, including core workloads such as Microsoft 365, Azure, identity and access management, endpoint management, security operations, backup, and compliance-driven managed services.

The Presales Senior Engineer plays a critical role in leading strategic opportunities, supporting standardization across the presales function, and mentoring other presales engineers.

What You'll Do:

Scoping

  • Lead scoping for complex or strategic opportunities, including discovery, risk identification, solution fit analysis, and definition of delivery assumptions.
  • Own the development and review of custom statements of work, change orders, estimates, and technical proposals for high-visibility opportunities.
  • Provide technical leadership for pricing inputs related to licensing, cloud infrastructure, security services, and professional services labor.
  • Establish and refine repeatable presales assets, templates, and scoping practices that improve consistency and quality across the team.

Technical Solutioning and Presentation

  • Serve as a senior technical advisor on C3 solutions, including Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, endpoint management, security platforms, managed services, backup, and compliance-aligned architectures.
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of C3’s Reference Architecture and its supporting partner services, including secure access, endpoint security, allowlisting, backup, remote monitoring and management, and governance or compliance tooling.
  • Maintain expertise in compliance-driven solution requirements for regulated environments, including customer needs tied to federal and defense sector expectations such as CMMC, NIST, and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) handling requirements.
  • Act as a point of escalation for complex technical questions, custom opportunity structures, solution exceptions, and cross-workload dependencies during the presales cycle.
  • Mentor and support less experienced presales engineers through deal coaching, knowledge sharing, asset development, and continuous improvement of team standards.

Knowledge & Expereince

  • Deep experience with cloud, security, infrastructure, and compliance-oriented solution design in customer-facing technical roles.
  • Strong ability to independently structure and document solutions, assumptions, dependencies, and delivery considerations in proposals and statements of work.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence deal strategy, partner cross-functionally, and balance technical accuracy with business

What You'll Bring:

You are a trusted technical leader who can navigate ambiguity, guide complex customer conversations, and shape practical solutions that balance business goals, delivery realities, and compliance requirements. You communicate with confidence, coach others effectively, and bring a disciplined approach to presales quality, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in presales engineering, solutions engineering, consulting, or related technical customer-facing roles.
  • Proven experience leading complex technical sales motions involving discovery, architecture, pricing inputs, statements of work, and services scoping.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to engage technical teams, business stakeholders, and executive audiences.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Intune, security and compliance controls, and modern endpoint management concepts.
  • Ability to map customer requirements to C3’s Reference Architecture and identify when standard offerings, partner services, or custom solution elements are appropriate.
  • Experience documenting assumptions, dependencies, exclusions, risks, and delivery considerations in proposals and statements of work.
  • Strong understanding of regulated customer environments and the ability to discuss technical implications of frameworks such as CMMC and NIST with confidence and accuracy.

Desired Characteristics

  • Relevant Microsoft, Azure, security, compliance, or partner-platform certifications.
  • Experience with Azure Government, Microsoft 365 GCC High, or similarly regulated cloud environments.
  • Experience scoping or positioning managed services and partner-delivered capabilities such as secure access, endpoint protection, backup, RMM, or governance tooling.
  • Experience mentoring peers, improving presales processes, and contributing to reusable assets, standards, and team enablement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

What You'll Get:

  • To be a part of one of the fastest-growing companies in America, and a talented team to back you up.
  • An awesome culture, backed up by winning several Best Places to Work awards.
  • Remote work opportunities
  • Medical, Dental, Vision Insurance
  • Four Weeks of Paid Time Off (vacation & sick leave)
  • Four weeks of Paid Maternity and Paternity leave
  • Two days of Paid Volunteer Time
  • 401(k) with 4% Company Match
  • Company Bonus Structure
  • Tuition Reimbursement
  • Employer-sponsored Disability & Life Insurance
  • Professional Development

This a remote position with minimal travel.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
