Note: This position is contingent upon contract award. Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen with an active Secret clearance for this role.

 

Position Summary:

The Systems Administrator (Windows / Unix-RHEL) is responsible for the installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, and support of Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments supporting the Navy ERP+ program. This role ensures the stability, security, performance, and availability of enterprise infrastructure supporting mission-critical SAP and non-SAP applications.

The Systems Administrator provides operational support for development, test, training, and production environments, performs system monitoring and maintenance activities, and supports modernization initiatives. This position works closely with Basis, Database, Security, Integration, Development, Cloud, and Infrastructure teams to ensure reliable operation of Navy ERP+ systems and services.

Due to the nature of the Navy ERP+ environment, this position requires adherence to DoD cybersecurity requirements, configuration management controls, and government compliance standards.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Server Administration and Operations

  • Install, configure, administer, and maintain Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) operating systems.
  • Manage physical, virtual, and cloud-hosted server environments supporting Navy ERP+ applications and services.
  • Perform routine system administration activities including patching, upgrades, account management, and system maintenance.
  • Monitor server health, availability, capacity, and performance to ensure operational stability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operating system, hardware, storage, and infrastructure issues.

Infrastructure Support

  • Support enterprise application environments including SAP, web servers, middleware, file transfer services, and supporting technologies.
  • Configure and maintain server resources, storage allocations, file systems, and operating system services.
  • Support load balancing, clustering, high availability, and disaster recovery configurations where applicable.
  • Coordinate infrastructure activities with network, cloud, database, and application support teams.

Security and Compliance

  • Implement and maintain operating system security controls in accordance with DoD cybersecurity requirements.
  • Apply Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), security patches, and vulnerability remediation activities.
  • Support RMF compliance activities, audits, vulnerability assessments, and security reviews.
  • Assist with implementation of security directives, IAVAs, CTOs, and other government-mandated security requirements.
  • Maintain system hardening standards and security documentation.

Performance Monitoring and Optimization

  • Monitor system utilization, performance, and capacity trends.
  • Analyze system performance metrics and recommend improvements to optimize operations.
  • Support proactive monitoring and automated alerting solutions.
  • Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring infrastructure issues.

Backup, Recovery, and Continuity Operations

  • Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Participate in Continuity of Operations (COOP) planning, testing, and execution activities.
  • Assist with recovery testing and validation of critical infrastructure services.
  • Maintain recovery documentation and operational procedures.

Change Management and Modernization Support

  • Support infrastructure upgrades, migrations, refreshes, and modernization initiatives.
  • Participate in configuration management and change control processes.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, implementation plans, and operational procedures.
  • Support transition activities associated with Navy ERP+ modernization efforts.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate with SAP Basis, Database Administration, Security, Integration, and Development teams to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Support system deployment activities and operational readiness efforts.
  • Provide technical recommendations for infrastructure improvements and modernization initiatives.
  • Assist project teams with infrastructure planning and implementation activities.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Active DoD security clearance with T5 investigation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience administering enterprise Windows Server environments.
  • 5+ years of experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
  • Experience supporting enterprise applications in production environments.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or equivalent platforms.
  • Experience performing operating system patching, upgrades, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Strong understanding of server hardware, storage, networking, and infrastructure concepts.
  • Experience supporting security compliance requirements and vulnerability remediation efforts.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

 

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting SAP landscapes including SAP ERP, SAP S/4HANA, or related enterprise applications.
  • Experience supporting cloud environments such as AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Experience with automation and scripting technologies such as PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Ansible.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps and Infrastructure as Code concepts.
  • Experience supporting DoD, Navy, or other federal government environments.
  • Red Hat, Microsoft, VMware, or equivalent technical certifications.
