Overall Function

The Technical Design Coordinator/Assistant supports the Technical Design and Design teams in all tasks related to tracking, processing, measuring, organizing, and maintaining samples from development through production. This role ensures the smooth flow of information and samples throughout the fit and approval process, enabling accurate and timely execution of technical and production milestones.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Development Support

  • Partner with Design and Development to select the appropriate spec sheet from previous seasons to initiate POMs for new styles using an approved block.
  • Identify any new POM needs and work with the Director of Technical Services to update the “How to Measure” guide accordingly.
  • Assist Technical Designers in preparing and updating development-related Tech Pack materials as needed.

Production Sample Tracking & Coordination

  • Email vendors to track all sample submissions (Fit, Wear Test, Pre-Production, QIMA and TOP samples), ensuring on-time delivery and entering all tracking information into PLM.
  • Update WIP for technical design milestones
  • Escalate late or missing samples to Technical Designers for follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate, timely sample status and documentation in PLM throughout the production cycle.

Sample Measurement & Preparation

  • Upon sample receipt, pull the relevant spec sheet from PLM and measure the garment, documenting all POMs, off-tolerances, and construction or quality concerns.
  • Prepare garments for fittings by organizing samples, attaching measurement notes, and ensuring readiness for review.
  • For wear test garments, complete all measurement and documentation steps and then pass garments to the Director of Technical Services to assign wear testers.
  • Assist with TOP processing and alert tech designer if any issues

Fit Process Support

  • Assist in preparing fitting rooms, organizing samples, and supporting Technical Designers during fit sessions.
  • Help maintain sample storage, organization systems, and seasonal sample archives.
  • Support other technical design tasks as needed, contributing to overall workflow efficiency.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
  • Preparing QIMA golden sample packages and sending them out to QIMA once the tech designer has approved/signed off. Emailing QIMA tracking information and entering in QIMA booking system
  • PLM data entry as needed
