Overview of the Role
The People Business Partner, Retail position will partner with managers and non-exempt employees within our In-Store/Retail pillars on various stages of the employee lifecycle from talent management, performance management, employee relations, onboarding/offboarding, and business driven initiatives. Your experience in People and Human Resources will aid our organization in adding value to overall business objectives, providing People Team solutions, resolving personnel grievances, retaining a talented workforce, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Location: Fully Remote (opportunity for Hybrid, if near an office)
- Salary range $70,000- $75,000 based on experience, qualifications and skills.
- Travel Requirements: Minimal overnight travel required (less than 10%) – i.e. yearly People Team summits, and/or any other events that would be warranted

What You’ll Do at C.A. Fortune
- Responsible for ensuring an effective and best in class delivery of all People Programs throughout the employee lifecycle within the In-Store and Retail Pillars (~350+ employees)
- Coach managers through employee situations
- Performance Management/Progressive Discipline Best Practices
- Partner with cross functional PBP on talent needs for function and employees to ensure open communication, understanding and that business needs and concerns are addressed
- Develop proposals and recommendations to resolve strategically important issues affecting major HR or Business Functions
- Partners with managers on a variety of employee relations issues
What You Should Bring to the Table
- 3-5 years of HR/People experience required, preferably in a retail environment.
- Experience working with all classes of employees. Full time, part time, exempt, and non-exempt.
- Strong understanding of employee relations with a history of supporting the employee experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal
- Understanding of employment labor laws, across all states
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Excellent organization skills, strong attention to detail
- Strong collaborator across teams and functions at all levels of the organization
- Significant breadth of understanding of functional HR roles and responsibilities and impact on the business
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
You Will Stand Out if You Have
- Retail HR experience
- Experience with California non-exempt employees
- Familiarity with HR systems and tools especially ADP Workforce Now
- Bilingual with fluency in English and Spanish - verbal and written.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels.
- Knowledge of federal and state labor laws.
