Overview of the Role

  • The Senior Category Analyst - Whole Foods & Sprouts, serves as the primary analytics and insights partner supporting the Whole Foods Market and Sprouts businesses. This role is responsible for transforming retailer, syndicated, and market data into actionable recommendations that drive growth for clients and customers. 
  • The ideal candidate combines strong analytical capabilities with business storytelling skills, helping sales teams proactively identify opportunities, communicate compelling insights, and influence decision-making. This position will perform as a category manager, internal consultant, and trusted advisor to our sales organization and clients. 
  • Location: Fully remote or local to Austin, TX, or Phoenix, AZ to attend retailer meetings.
  • Salary Range: $70,000 – $78,000 depending on experience, qualifications, and skills 
  • Travel Requirements: 5 – 10% to present to clients 

What You'll Do at C.A. Fortune

  • Implement category management strategies to develop fact-based category reviews, business reviews, and selling stories. 
  • Present business reviews to clients, clearly articulating trends, risks, opportunities, and recommendations. 
  • Develop executive-ready visualizations and insights that enable account teams to proactively identify opportunities and business risks.
  • Translate complex retailer, syndicated, and market data into clear, concise business narratives and recommendations. 
  • Work with Account Managers to manage KPIs across retailers and identify opportunities using customer POS, syndicated data, competitive pricing, market data, and other sources. 
  • Analyze data to provide insights and recommendations addressing product, placement, pricing, and promotions. 
  • Monitor retailer and category performance trends and proactively surface meaningful changes and business implications. 
  • Develop and deliver presentations related to sales reviews, category reviews, merchandising, assortment, pricing, shelving, and omnichannel performance. 
  • Develop, track, and monitor regular reporting that enables category leadership to quickly understand market trends and opportunities. 
  • Serve as a key contributor in advancing Sprouts analytics capabilities and identifying new reporting, insights, and measurement opportunities. 
  • Evaluate effectiveness of programs and communicate strategy and best practices internally and externally. 
  • Partner closely with sales leadership to support strategic decision-making through data and insights. 

What You Should Bring to the Table

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 3 – 7 years of CPG industry sales, analytics, insights, or category management experience.
  • Must have experience with Whole Foods Market or Sprouts.
  • Natural, Specialty, Organic food and/or beverage experience preferred. 
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities. 
  • Strong experience with SPINS (Satori), Circana (IRI), NielsenIQ, retailer POS data, and category management analytics. 
  • Experience leveraging retailer-specific platforms including Whole Foods Market Portal and other retailer reporting environments. 
  • Experience in selling story development, category reviews, and category management principles. 
  • Experience creating compelling visualizations and executive-ready reporting using Power BI, Spotfire, Excel, or similar platforms. 
  • Ability to identify trends, synthesize findings, and communicate actionable business recommendations through data storytelling. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical abilities. 
  • Advanced communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex concepts in a concise manner. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong analytical thinker who can turn strategies and efficient processes into execution. 
  • Demonstrates curiosity and willingness to leverage emerging technologies, automation, and analytics tools to improve reporting efficiency and uncover business insights. 

You Will Stand Out If You Have

  • Experience supporting Whole Foods, Sprouts or other natural/specialty retailers. 
  • Deep experience with SPINS (Satori) and natural channel analytics. 
  • Experience building executive-level presentations and retailer-facing business reviews. 
  • Experience using Power BI or other visualization platforms to create insight-driven reporting.
