What Your Summer at Cahill Looks Like:

• You'll undergo a robust onboarding experience to understand our construction management processes, the tools we use, and our company culture.
• Continue to amp up your skills from ongoing trainings, workshops, and jobsite tours throughout the summer.
• Build relationships with our Executive Leadership team and other employees at Cahill through Lunch & Learns and Coffee Chats.
• Bond with other interns and employees at happy hours, sporting events, and volunteering.
  
  

Responsibilities include:

• Assist with quantity take-offs, with a focus on accuracy and completeness.
• Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Assist with preparing necessary documents for subcontractors to budget and bid from.
• Assist with preparing scopes of work for various construction trades with no "gaps".
• Analyze subcontractor / supplier proposals for completeness and accuracy.
• Negotiate pricing with subcontractors / suppliers.
• Assist with preparing pricing qualifications.
• Assist with the final assembly of estimates and GMP’s before submitting to the client.
• Develop Value Engineering opportunities to present to the client and architect.
  
  

Qualifications & Skills:

• Enrolled in a Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree preferred, but not required.
• Able to review plans and specs with understanding.
• Experience with Excel.
• Good math and analytical skills.
• Detail-oriented.
• Able to provide “closure” to assigned tasks within deadlines provide.
  
  

Physical Requirements:

The physical requirements described herein are representative of those that must be met by the employee, with or without reasonable accommodation, to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in an office or hybrid setting. The employee is required to work in compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable laws. This position will be regularly required to:

• Repetitively use hand motions for keyboard use and physical use of vision to read computer monitors and paper documents.
• Regularly use hands to operate standard office equipment (personal computer, phone, printer, etc.)
• See with close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and have the ability to adjust focus.
• Sit at a desk for prolonged periods of time working on a computer.
• Talk and hear at normal levels. The noise level in the office work environment is usually low to moderate.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.

• Employment – This is a full-time position located in our Oakland office. This role is hybrid, with a minimum of 3 days in the office.

The base hourly salary for this non-exempt role is $27.50.
