Investment Origination - Vice President

CAIS is seeking a Vice President to join the Investments team, responsible for sourcing, reviewing, monitoring, and engaging alternative asset managers and investment strategies, to ensure best in class investment products for our clients. Qualified candidates for the Investments, Originations team should have experience within the alternative investments landscape conducting hedge fund and/or private markets research and due diligence with an understanding of the needs of wealth management advisors. Candidates should be passionate about understanding a diverse range of technical investment products, have a passion for manager research and the due diligence process, and be a process oriented and execution driven to help onboard new strategies to the marketplace. Strong written and verbal communication is imperative, as the role requires constant communication with a wide range of stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Pipeline Management: Organize and manage a growing pipeline of available alternative investment funds across asset classes, strategies, and structures and work closely with Investments, Manager Research to share insightful opinions and recommendations based on Investments team and Product Specialists priorities
- Build the Menu: Oversee research sourcing, initial screening, and identification of product/investment strategies/structures for further consideration and help build the menu of options on the CAIS Platform
- Research: Coordinate and participate in fund due diligence, through detailed calls and meetings with the portfolio management team, review of all fund documentation, and qualitative and quantitative analysis with the broader Investments, Manager Research team
- Represent CAIS: Join meetings with internal and external stakeholders to share fund expertise, speak to the merits of available investments, detail CAIS’s process and approach to the independent wealth channel, and explain the value of CAIS to drive manager interest and potential revenue opportunities for the firm
- Onboarding: Manage initial manager relationship during sourcing and onboard them successful onto the CAIS Platform in partnership with relationship managers
- Negotiation: Negotiate with managers and manage legal process closely with legal team Investment
- Knowledge: Develop expertise on all current CAIS investment products and what strategies and structures are priorities for research and onboarding
- Market Knowledge: Monitor market trends and contribute to the team’s thought leadership in this area
- Cross Collaboration: Work cross collaboratively with Fund Operations, Finance, Legal, Product Specialists, Tech and others to get funds onboarded and understand the holistic CAIS platform
Qualifications
- 4-6+ years of experience in financial markets with a strong focus in alternative investments, including hedge fund and/or private markets strategies required
- Qualified candidates will have existing relationships with asset managers
- Broad investment management and financial market knowledge across asset classes
- An understanding of alternatives marketplace and regulatory environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate the benefits of complex investment products
- Highly ambitious and collaborative self-starter with experience coordinating multiple competing and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborate effectively with individuals at a range of levels from internal and external partners from CIOs and CEOs to analyst
- Ability to lead initiatives, projects, and work cross collaboratively to get stuff done!
- Strong project management and time management skills with ability to manage many workflows and improve efficiency
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or Accounting preferred
- Series 7 & Series 63/66 or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
- Demonstrated progress in CFA, CPA, CAIA, CFP, and/or CIMA strongly preferred
- Advanced working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Airtable, and CRM programs

CAIS’ compensation package includes a market competitive salary, a performance bonus, and exceptional benefits. If you are located in New York, New York, the base salary range for this role is $140,000 - $180,000. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.
