The Role
California Autism Center is seeking an experienced and hands-on HR Manager to support and scale our growing team across multiple centers. This role will oversee core HR functions including employee relations, compliance, and performance management, with a strong focus on supporting clinical and administrative staff in an ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) setting.
This position plays a critical role in maintaining compliance with California labor laws while fostering a positive, structured, and growth-oriented work environment.
Requirements
- Lead day-to-day HR operations across multiple locations, ensuring consistency in policies and practices
- Partner with leadership to support workforce planning, staffing strategies, and organizational growth
- Oversee employee relations, including conflict resolution, investigations, and performance management
- Ensure compliance with all California labor laws, including wage/hour, leave of absence (LOA), and employee classifications
- Manage and improve onboarding, offboarding, and employee lifecycle processes
- Develop and maintain HR policies, SOPs, and internal documentation
- Support and guide managers on HR best practices and employee development
- Monitor and report on HR metrics such as turnover, retention, and hiring timelines
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3-5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in healthcare, behavioral health, or ABA services
- Strong knowledge of California employment law and HR compliance requirements
- Experience supporting multi-site or high-growth organizations
- Proven ability to manage employee relations and sensitive situations professionally
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Experience working closely with recruiting teams and hiring managers
- HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) preferred
This is a full-time salaried, non-exempt position with medical, dental, vision, vacation, and other full-time benefits

- Experience in ABA, autism services, or healthcare environments
- Familiarity with roles such as RBTs, BCBAs, and clinical staff structures
- Experience building or improving HR processes in a growing organization
Full compensation package are based on candidate experience and certifications.
California pay range
$75,000 - $85,000 USD
