Senior (API) Integration Engineer
Callibrity is based in Cincinnati, Ohio. This role is a full-time hybrid position and only candidates within commuting distance to Cincinnati will be considered.

As a Senior (API) Integration Engineer, you are a leader by example and a subject matter expert in designing, building, and integrating APIs and distributed systems. You will work closely with client stakeholders, architects, and delivery teams to design scalable integration solutions that connect systems, move data reliably, and enable business outcomes. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys greenfield and modernization work, understands enterprise integration challenges, and can translate business needs into robust, well-governed API solutions. Responsibilities:
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on API strategy, integration patterns, and system design
- Design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs and integration services
- Lead technical discussions around API standards, versioning, security, and governance
- Mentor and upskill Callibrity consultants and client engineering teams
- Translate business and integration requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Proactively identify integration risks, performance bottlenecks, and failure points
- Communicate complex integration concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Demonstrate and teach best practices related to API design, CI/CD, DevOps, and test automation
- Stay current on emerging technologies including cloud-native integration, event-driven architectures, and AI-enabled workflows
- Thrive in environments with close collaboration across engineering, product, QA, and architecture roles
- Be someone clients trust and rely on regardless of title or seniority
Requirements:
- 7+ years of professional experience building and supporting API-driven and integrated systems
- Strong experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and service integrations
- Hands-on experience with API frameworks and platforms (e.g., FastAPI, Flask, Spring Boot, Azure API Management, Apigee, or similar)
- Strong understanding of integration patterns, messaging, and distributed systems concepts
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with Docker and containerized services; Kubernetes is a plus
- Experience with performance, reliability, and observability in API ecosystems
- Experience integrating with external vendors and third-party systems
- Relevant professional experience in IT and/or consulting
- Four-year degree, respected bootcamp/accelerator, or equivalent practical experience
- Ability to successfully complete Callibrity’s CoderPad and Code Pairing challenges
