Field Training Manager - West Coast
In This Role,
The Field Training Manager (FTM) is responsible for supporting the sales and marketing initiatives through the facilitation of in-house and field-based sales training programs. This role will create a collaborative and cohesive work environment between education, sales, and marketing to create successful and highly productive sales professionals. This role will be crucial in helping create training content for local, regional, and national training meetings, create ways to assess progress and competency of the sales team, and capture ways to improve and implement new content as needed. The FTM has responsibility as a performance coach for the sales organization to develop sales reps from the Forming through Performing stages and beyond. This role will execute field and classroom-based workshops, will lead and facilitate virtual/remote training events, and will design, build, and lead the Field Sales Trainer (FST) team in the execution of key sales training programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Major functions are described below. Other duties may be assigned.
- In collaboration with the Director of Sales Training, Director of Professional Education and the Director of Commercial Acceleration, this role will lead the creation and facilitation of core sales training content focused on the Calyxo selling models to ensure new hires meet performance objectives over the expected development timeframe.
- Facilitate sales training courses including leading virtual courses, in-house workshops, and field-based activities. Leads facilitation of advanced training courses, both virtual and in-house workshops.
- Executes field rides with new and tenured sales reps as a performance coach, signing off on competency milestones and solo case signoffs.
- Responsible for upholding standards and quality of the sales performance and development program and implementing standards to measure competencies.
- Manages and directs Field Sales Trainers (FST) to effectively execute in-house courses and field based/virtual activities to meet course and curriculum objectives. Provides coaching and development to FST team.
- Provide timely and open coaching and performance feedback, ensure a continuous process of one-on-one skill development, swiftly address performance concerns, and ensure performance management is effectively managed. Collaborate with Regional Business Manager’s and Area Sales Director’s to determine appropriate training and development opportunities for individual sales reps falling outside of development expectations.
- Collaborate with marketing directors and product managers to develop and implement ongoing training, product launches, ROCKStars calls and National Training Meeting/National Sales Meeting programs.
- Participate in Regional and Area meetings to execute training and development sessions as the sales training lead.
- As needed, support vacant territories during transition or expansion periods.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a training role in the medical device field – Urology preferred
- Experience as a high performing quota bearing sales rep and or sales leader in medical device field – Urology preferred
- Consistent, healthy quota achievement
- Demonstration of sustained, consistent, stable growth in territory
- P-club award winner
- Experience in leadership roles within an organization. Examples may include:
- Successful Field Trainer program participation
- Identified by peers as leader in organization
- Successfully led regional sales calls
- Successfully led a regional/national sales meetings
- Documented success in training sales reps including clinical and business development/sales techniques
- Strong goal setting and implementation skills demonstrated by a clear record of accomplishments in prior personal and professional pursuits
- Acts and models ethical and compliant behavior in their daily business practices
- Proven ability to provide and deliver excellent customer service. Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional and cross-company representatives
- Travel up to 70%

- Competitive salary with a generous $180,000 base salary, $60,000 variable bonus, $9600 car allowance and $1800 cell phone/internet allowance per year
