Role Summary:
We’re seeking a Freelance Show Director & Rehearsal Lead to manage end-to-end onboarding and rehearsal processes for immersive, family-friendly theatrical experiences. This includes performers, coordinating rehearsals, and supporting shows during their initial launch period.
Project Timeline: July 7th - August 2nd. Includes preparation, rehearsals then on on-site support post-launch to provide coaching, direction, and refinement
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with internal creative/production teams to understand show needs
- Organize and lead rehearsals, including choreography, blocking, and costumed performance direction
- Provide on-site coaching during the first week of live operation
- Handle performer communications, scheduling, and basic administrative tasks
Ideal Candidate:
- Strong experience in theatrical rehearsal leadership
- Skilled in coaching costumed and immersive performers
- Highly organized, deadline-oriented, and collaborative
- Local hires are strongly preferred.
Project Scopes and Timeline
Show Launch Details
- Project: Rehearse already cast performers for an upcoming NEW SHOW launching in Washington, DC on July 25
- Review cast list and show materials in advance
- Lead 4-6 days of in-person rehearsals (1 week total)
- Provide 1 week of on-site support once the show is live (July 25–Aug 2nd)
- Coach performers on character movement, timing, and engagement
- Adjust performance based on audience feedback and show flow
- Align with creative and production leads to ensure quality and consistency
- Project compensation: $6,000.00 total
- Cast Size: 12-15 performers, including costumed characters
