We’re looking for a Sales Engineer to join us as the first person in this role. You’ll work side by side with our Account Executives to show off our Accounting Practice Management software in a way that clicks with prospective customers. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role where you’ll get to dive deep into the product, run tailored demos, and help firms see the impact Canopy can make. Because it’s a new position, we’re looking for someone who’s confident working independently but also enjoys teaming up with others.
This is a hybrid position available for candidates based in Utah only.
What You’ll Do:
- Partner with Account Executives to support the full sales cycle, with a focus on technical validation and solution alignment.
- Deliver compelling, tailored product demonstrations that leverage prospect data, workflows, and relevant case studies.
- Rapidly build deep expertise in Canopy’s platform and the accounting practice management industry, staying current on trends, workflows, and competitor solutions.
- Translate complex product capabilities into clear, outcome-driven stories that resonate with accounting firm leaders.
- Configure and customize demo environments to showcase client-specific use cases and solve prospect challenges.
- Collaborate with Sales, Product, and Marketing teams to refine demo scripts, competitive positioning, and technical proof points.
- Serve as a trusted advisor by answering technical questions, addressing objections, and ensuring prospects understand value realization.
- Assist in RFP responses and technical documentation when required.
- Provide structured feedback from prospects to Product and Customer Success teams to influence roadmap and onboarding improvements.
- Continuously improve demo delivery by incorporating feedback from AEs, prospects, and internal stakeholders.
- Work closely with Product and Marketing leaders to ensure the voice of the prospect is being heard and messaging remains consistent.
What We’re Looking For:
- 3+ years of experience in a client-facing pre-sales, solution engineering, or consulting role (SaaS or B2B software preferred).
- Ability to quickly learn complex products and communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Strong presentation and storytelling skills with a focus on business outcomes.
- Comfort configuring and tailoring software demos to address unique client scenarios.
- Collaborative mindset with proven ability to work cross-functionally with Sales, Product, and Marketing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including RFP responses and technical documentation.
- Curiosity about the accounting and financial services space (experience in or exposure to the industry is a plus).
- A proactive, customer-first attitude with a passion for improving processes and driving results.
