The Opportunity

We are hiring a Revenue Accounting Manager to own revenue-to-cash accounting at Canopy and help lead the people who run it today. Reporting to the Controller, you'll be the first-level reviewer for revenue, billing, AR, and commissions.

This is a hands-on manager role. You'll review the work, write the technical memos, and be the go-to partner for RevOps, Sales, Account Management, BI, and our auditors on anything that touches revenue. And as we launch usage billed in arrears and partner revenue, you'll design how it's recognized, reconciled, and controlled before it goes live.

We're looking for someone who is technically sharp, detail-driven, and energized by building processes and controls that scale.

This is a hybrid position in Draper, Utah (M, W, F in-office).

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and develop the revenue-to-cash team, with clear ownership and backup for every process.
  • Own revenue recognition (ASC 606) and commission accounting (ASC 340-40), including deferred commission amortization.
  • Review month-end billing, revenue, deferred revenue, AR, sales tax, and commission entries and reconciliations before close.
  • Oversee cash application and reconciliations.
  • Own AR health, including aging, reserves, and the collections process with Account Management.
  • Lead revenue variance analysis for preliminary close and own revenue workpapers for the annual audit.
  • Write technical accounting memos for usage-based AI billing and partner revenue, and review partner contracts before signing.
  • Build the usage-to-invoice-to-GL reconciliation in partnership with Product, Engineering, BI, and FP&A.
  • Serve as the finance partner for RevOps, Sales, and Account Management on billing, credits, and revenue.
  • Strengthen controls through revenue system access reviews and sales tax compliance, including nexus and new-product taxability.

What We’re Looking For

  • 6+ years of accounting experience, including revenue accounting at a SaaS or subscription company. Public accounting experience is a strong plus.
  • 2+ years managing or formally leading accountants.
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting and an active CPA license.
  • Deep, practical command of ASC 606 and ASC 340-40, with experience writing technical memos and defending them to auditors.
  • Hands-on experience with a subscription billing and revenue system (Zuora preferred) and payment processors (Stripe, Adyen, or similar).
  • A track record of building reconciliations and controls that hold up under audit and higher volume.
  • Clear, confident communication with non-finance partners like Sales, RevOps, and Product.

Bonus Points

  • Experience launching usage-based or consumption billing (including unbilled receivables and month-end usage cutoffs) or partner, reseller, or marketplace revenue (including gross versus net presentation).
  • Experience with embedded payments, merchant reserves, and dispute management, plus familiarity with QuickBooks Online Advanced, Salesforce, Ramp, and Avalara.
  • Experience at a company scaling from roughly $50M to $100M in revenue.

We know many women do not apply for a job if they don't perfectly fit the description. We want you to apply anyway.
