The Role – Product Designer
We believe finance should be a source of personal empowerment, freedom and growth. Achieving this takes intelligent, empathetic and heartfelt design. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and talented designer looking for highly diverse, client-facing consulting roles where no two projects are the same. From day one as a Product and Experience Design Consultant, you will be given the opportunity to support our clients on a wide range of interesting projects across the financial services.
The ideal candidate should have a strong skillset across the design lifecycle with the ability to take clients on a journey from uncertainty to impactful products and experiences. They understand how to use research and discovery approaches to gather and understand requirements and can translate these requirements into interaction flows, journey maps, wireframes and intuitive user interfaces. They can make deliberate design decisions and translate any given user-experience journey into a smooth and intuitive interaction. Our designers play a key role in our consulting projects, shaping strategies, products and experiences. They have qualities that make a great consultant - strong observation, critical thinking, leadership and inter-personal skills, impeccable attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
A glimpse of the kinds of challenges you might solve as a design consultant at Capco:
- How can the user experience of a retail investment mobile app be improved to increase the size of the user base and user engagement?
- How can an investment bank reimagine a complex internal process to improve employee productivity and reduce human-errors?
- How can the end-to-end experience of a luxury lifestyle banking app be reimagined to improve client engagement?
- How can an HR department improve the employee experience across digital channels and beyond?
As a Product Designer, You Will
- Translate business and user needs and technology constraints into solution concepts that are meaningful, easy to use, and engaging
- Support the facilitation of workshops to answer critical business questions through design thinking, rapid prototyping, and testing ideas with customers
- Deliver project discovery, including workshops, user and stakeholder interviews, analytics, audits, and benchmarking
- Utilise quantitative and qualitative research such as interviews, usability testing and contextual enquiry to generate meaningful insights that will drive creative concepts
- Design journey maps, sitemaps, information architecture, wireframes, UI designs, and prototypes
- Articulately communicate statues of project delivery to senior stakeholders.
- Be responsible for the overall visual output of the experience that you are designing
- Be able to work with strict brand guidelines and design systems
- Be able to effectively communicate and defend your designs with developers and other key client stakeholders
- Have experience using design tools and software such as Figma, Sketch, Mural and Adobe CC.
A Few Things That Will Set You Apart
- Strong storytelling and communication skills
- Experience with market research, competitive landscape, and testing methods (A/B, multivariate testing)
- Experience delivering design in agile teams, ideally within Financial Services and a consulting environment.
- Experience with designing enterprise-level design systems
- The ability to sketch/illustrate storyboards
- A demonstrable understanding of human psychology
- Good knowledge of financial services, including banking, insurance, wealth management and the capital markets
- Some knowledge of emerging design tools and processes (e.g. Lovable and UXPilot)
- A relevant academic qualification is preferable (Digital Product Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Psychology etc).
- You will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, strong verbal and written communication skills.
