The Role

As a Principal Frontend Developer at Capco, you'll lead the development of scalable and secure web applications for global financial services clients using modern JavaScript frameworks, primarily React. You'll architect responsive, accessible, and intuitive user experiences while working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver transformative digital solutions. As a senior technical leader, you'll mentor engineers, influence frontend strategy, and establish engineering best practices. You'll also champion AI-enabled ways of working, encouraging the responsible use of approved AI and automation tools to improve engineering productivity, accelerate delivery, and enhance software quality while ensuring appropriate governance, human oversight, and responsible AI practices.

What You'll Do

  • Architect and deliver scalable frontend applications using React and modern JavaScript frameworks, applying AI-enabled engineering approaches where appropriate to improve development efficiency and quality.
  • Design responsive, accessible, and intuitive user interfaces that align with UX/UI best practices and deliver exceptional customer experiences.
  • Establish and promote frontend engineering standards, ensuring maintainable, secure, and high-quality solutions across delivery teams.
  • Mentor engineers, support technical capability development, and encourage the responsible use of approved AI tools and automation to enhance collaboration and software delivery.
  • Partner with clients, product teams, designers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, and React, with experience in frameworks such as Next.js, Vue.js, or Angular.
  • Experience with modern CSS techniques including Flexbox, CSS Grid, and frameworks such as SASS, Material UI, or Bootstrap.
  • Solid understanding of frontend security principles, including OAuth2, JWT, OpenID Connect, and secure application design.
  • Experience with Redux, Webpack, modern testing frameworks (such as Jest, Mocha, or Enzyme), and delivering applications through CI/CD pipelines and containerised environments (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Experience using AI-enabled tools responsibly to improve engineering productivity while maintaining appropriate human oversight, accessibility, security, and software quality.

Bonus Points For

  • Experience mentoring and developing frontend engineers within Agile delivery teams.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms, deployment strategies, and modern application hosting approaches.
  • Familiarity with financial services products, regulatory environments, and digital transformation programmes.
  • Experience contributing to recruitment, business cases, client proposals, and RFP responses.
  • Interest in responsible AI, automation, and emerging frontend technologies to continually improve engineering practices and user experiences.
