THE ROLE

As a Temenos Configuration Specialist - Payments, you will play a key role in delivering a complex core banking and payments transformation for a leading Swiss financial institution. You will focus on the functional configuration, integration, testing, and deployment of Temenos payment capabilities, including Temenos Payments / Payments Hub and related Temenos Transact components. Working at the intersection of payments operations, business analysis, architecture, and technology, you will translate business requirements into robust configuration solutions that support secure, resilient, and highly automated end-to-end payment processing.

YOUR CAPCO DAY

• Configure payment products, processing rules, workflows and orchestration, routing, fees and charges, cut-off times, priorities, limits, exception handling, and settlement parameters within Temenos payment solutions.
• Translate business and operational requirements into functional designs, configuration workbooks, parameter specifications, and implementation-ready solutions aligned with the target architecture and Temenos standards.
• Perform fit-gap and impact analyses, promoting configuration-first solutions and identifying where controlled extensions or integration changes are required.
• Support end-to-end incoming and outgoing payment flows across domestic, SEPA, cross-border, high-value, batch, and instant-payment scenarios, including returns, rejects, recalls, investigations, and repair processes.
• Apply strong knowledge of ISO 20022 and relevant payment standards, including SWIFT / CBPR+, clearing and settlement concepts, payment status handling, and straight-through processing.
• Collaborate with architects and integration teams on interfaces between Temenos, digital channels, payment networks, sanctions and fraud controls, clearing and settlement services, general ledger, and reconciliation platforms.
• Define and review functional test scenarios and acceptance criteria, and provide hands-on support during system integration testing, user acceptance testing, regression testing, and end-to-end payment validation.
• Analyse defects and production-like issues, trace configuration and data-flow root causes, coordinate remediation with functional and technical teams, and validate fixes through structured retesting.
• Support configuration promotion, release preparation, migration and cutover activities, go-live readiness, hypercare, and the creation of operational runbooks and support documentation.
• Facilitate workshops with payment product owners, operations teams, business analysts, architects, developers, testers, and control functions to clarify requirements and resolve design decisions.
• Coordinate closely with Temenos, implementation partners, and internal delivery teams, managing configuration dependencies and ensuring consistency across environments and related workstreams.
• Contribute to configuration governance, documentation standards, knowledge transfer, and capability building so that solutions remain maintainable after implementation.

YOUR CAPCO FIT

• At least 7 years of experience in banking technology, core banking, or payments transformation, including substantial hands-on responsibility for configuration and implementation activities.
• At least 4 years of practical experience with Temenos, ideally including Temenos Transact and Temenos Payments / Payments Hub, with participation in at least two implementation, upgrade, or major transformation programmes.
• Strong functional knowledge of payment processing across the full payment lifecycle, with experience in retail, corporate, or private-banking environments.
• Proven ability to configure and troubleshoot Temenos payment products, parameters, workflows, routing logic, fees, limits, cut-offs, exception handling, and settlement-related rules.
• Strong understanding of ISO 20022, SEPA, SWIFT / CBPR+, instant payments, local clearing / RTGS concepts, and payment operations; familiarity with direct debits and standing orders is advantageous.
• Working knowledge of APIs, message and file interfaces, data mapping, batch processing, reconciliation, and accounting integration; SQL or comparable data-analysis skills are an advantage.
• Demonstrated experience working in complex banking programmes with multiple business, technology, vendor, and implementation-partner stakeholders.
• Structured problem-solving skills and the ability to translate complex payment requirements into practical, testable, and maintainable Temenos configurations.
• Comfortable working in agile or hybrid delivery environments, taking ownership of deliverables from requirements and design through testing, release, and post-go-live stabilization.
• Professional fluency in English (C1 level or equivalent), including the ability to produce clear functional and technical documentation.
• German proficiency at C1 level or higher is strongly preferred for client-facing collaboration in Switzerland.
