About the role 

CapIntel is hiring a Back-end Developer to join the growing Data Team. This role focuses on designing, building, and optimizing the data infrastructure that supports the platform. The work involves developing scalable back-end systems with a focus on data processing, API integrations, and cloud-based architectures. This position collaborates closely with developers and product teams to ensure that data pipelines, storage systems, and back-end services are robust, secure, and high-performing.

What you’ll do 

• Develop and maintain back-end services using JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, and NoSQL databases, like MongoDB.
• Design and optimize data storage solutions for structured and unstructured financial data.
• Build and maintain enterprise-level API integrations, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and security.
• Deploy and manage applications on cloud platforms (AWS), ensuring performance and reliability.
• Write comprehensive back-end tests, including unit and integration tests for API endpoints.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to back-end development standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with data and product teams to ensure backend solutions align with business needs.

What we're looking for

• Backend Development: Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js, with experience building scalable backend systems.
• Databases & APIs: Hands-on experience with MongoDB and developing secure, efficient APIs.
• Cloud Infrastructure: Familiarity with deploying and managing services on AWS or similar cloud platforms.
• Testing & Code Quality: Strong focus on writing maintainable code supported by unit and integration tests.
• Collaboration & Communication: Effective at working cross-functionally and communicating technical concepts clearly.

Bonus experience 

• Experience using Python for backend scripting or data processing
• Familiarity with serverless architectures, such as AWS Lambda
• Understanding of search indexing technologies like Elasticsearch
• Experience improving CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
