LOCATION
This position will be located at our Headquarters in College Station, Texas.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school with a license to practice law in the State of Texas. Requires at least three (3) years of experience practicing law that includes significant work in real estate, lending and financial transactions, and/or contract law.
JOB SUMMARY
- Coordinates with Comm Ag, Capital Markets, and Document Preparation teams (along with outside counsel where appropriate) on loan transactions and servicing actions to ensure timely closings.
- Provide review of closing packages to ensure they align with credit approval and provide summaries of terms to appropriate staff in participation accounting.
- As needed, prepare loan servicing items and related documentation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides legal representation to the association for the protection of material interests on Comm Ag and Capital Markets transactions, including ensuring the timely closing of loans.
- Reviews the work of outside counsel on these transactions to ensure compliance with Farm Credit standards and regulations as well as CFC policies.
- Oversees design and content of legal forms and revisions to existing forms used for servicing actions.
- Coordinates with the Document Preparation team in preparation and completion of documents for loan transactions as required.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Specialized knowledge in areas of law pertaining to real estate, mortgage lending and contracts, including debtor/creditor relationship; Farm Credit standards and regulations; and lien perfection and security interests.
- Ability to conduct legal research using electronic and/or manual sources.
- Familiarity with multi lender transactions and loan participations.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office applications.
