🏡🏢This is a Hybrid role, in our London (Moorgate) Office 3 days per week.

Credit Underwriting

Underwriters are at the heart of Capital on Tap as they allow us to grow our portfolio whilst keeping bad debt within appetite. We expect you to question the strategy, spot patterns the data team has not yet picked up, and bring decisions back into the room when something does not look right. Our automated decision engine handles the majority of cases but your job is the cases where judgement and context matter.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Review lending applications and financial data for decisions.
  • Performing credit reviews on our back book customers.
  • Helping to facilitate change in underwriting strategy and structure.
  • Interacting with internal teams for credit decisions.
  • Facilitating Risk initiatives and pilots by reviewing credit data.
  • Conducting periodic reviews of individual bad debts to provide portfolio insight.

We’re Looking For

  • 1+ years’ underwriting experience with a minimum of 6 months’ mandate (secured or unsecured).
  • Commercial lending experience is a must – you have a broad understanding of how businesses operate.
  • Strong analytical instinct – you read financials, spot inconsistencies, and triangulate across data sources without being told.
  • Demonstrate best practises in Responsible Lending.
  • You’ve already worked in a fintech or for a high-growth business.
  • An ability to work autonomously.
  • Genuine interest in why we do things, not just what the policy says.
