Location: Hybrid 3 days (offices in NYC, Denver, CO and Charlotte, NC area)

Position Overview:

The Account Executive is the primary relationship owner for a portfolio of commercial clients, including employers, labor/union, and public sector accounts. This role shapes client strategy, leads engagement, and drives results aligned to client goals. Assigned scope and complexity will vary based on experience, demonstrated capability, and business needs.

The AE acts as the quarterback of the broader account team, bringing together partners across operations, clinical, analytics, product, and compliance to deliver a cohesive client experience. Regardless of portfolio complexity, this role is expected to lead with confidence, bring a clear point of view, and turn information into recommendations that build trust and retention.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary relationship lead for an assigned book of business, building trusted stakeholder relationships and leading the account strategy, plan, and recommendations aligned to client goals, benefit philosophy, and business objectives.
  • Act as the quarterback of the broader account team, providing leadership across internal partners and ensuring clarity on roles, priorities, deliverables, and client commitments.
  • Drive a high-quality client experience through proactive account leadership, risk identification, issue resolution, and retention-focused execution.
  • Lead client-facing interactions, including stewardship meetings, QBRs, renewals, and strategic issue resolution. Independence and stakeholder seniority will scale with experience.
  • Translate reporting, trend data, market insights, and operational performance into clear, actionable recommendations and client-specific narratives.
  • Own the renewal process for assigned accounts, including strategic positioning, internal alignment, and competitive defense.
  • Support implementation effots of clients, including but not limited to strategic review of plan design documentation (implementation documents, summary plan documents, etc) to create plan design for intented client implementation. Following that, support pre- and post go-live testing, claims review and support to ensure proper set up and escalation handling. Ensure successful implementation to client services hand-off
  • Contract support during the sales process, with transitional ownership and management through the lifecycle of the client
  • Support member and client satisfaction execution and net promoter score goals
  • Lead regulatory and compliance components
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for cross-sell and upsell of ancillary services and products to drive account expansion and deepen client value.
  • Maintain knowledge of contractual obligations, financial terms, performance guarantees, cost drivers, and reporting/compliance requirements across the assigned book of business, and lead related client discussions as needed.
  • Partner with internal teams including underwriting, analytics, and finance to ensure alignment between commercial commitments and operational execution.
  • Partner closely with Clinical Account Consultants (CAC) and other SMEs to ensure clinical strategy is effectively integrated into the broader client narrative and recommendations.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of Capital Rx products, services, and strategic priorities in order to answer client questions accurately and position solutions effectively.
  • Review and advise on product and service enhancements, including JUDI-related priorities, to ensure evolving capabilities align with client expectations and market needs.
  • Support prospective sales initiatives including but not limited to capability presentations and finalist support both live and virtually
  • Identify and contribute to process improvement efforts across Capital Rx to improve consistency, scalability, and the overall client experience.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for adherence to the Capital Rx Code of Conduct, including reporting of noncompliance.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in health administration, business, or related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in healthcare, pharmacy benefits, or account management supporting commercial clients. Candidates with deeper experience may be considered for more complex account assignments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead client relationships and operate with confidence in client-facing settings.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to connect data, market dynamics, and client goals into a cohesive strategy.
  • Experience navigating or supporting renewal cycles, contract discussions, and competitive retention strategies.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence across all levels.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and industry-related software programs; strong Excel and data interpretation skills preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%, depending on business needs and seasonality.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting large, complex employer, labor, or public sector clients.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to tell a compelling story with data, trends, and performance insights.
  • Understanding of client-level financial dynamics, including pricing structures, performance guarantees, and profitability drivers.
  • Experience mentoring or coaching others and helping elevate overall team effectiveness.
  • Project management experience preferred.

New York, NY Salary Range

$163,600 - $204,500 USD
