This role is based in Redwood City, CA requires a hybrid schedule of at least 3 days a week in the office, and will report to the Corporate Controller.

You will...

  • Lead the month-end close process including the review of journal entries, income statement activity, and balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure accurate results
  • Manage and review work of other accountants with responsibilities in the Revenue & Sales Audit, General Ledger, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions:
  • General Ledger: Account maintenance, standard journal entries, month/year-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, reporting, and internal audits
  • Accounts Payable: Vendor maintenance, invoice/expense reimbursement processing, payment runs, receipts accruals, prepaid amortization, accrued expenses, and process improvements
  • International operations: Remotely oversee one accounting employee in China office, reviewing reconciliations and journal entries and monitoring status throughout the month
  • Treasury: Monitor cash balances, review investment portfolios, maintain bank accounts
  • Develop process improvements and drive efficiencies in processes/systems to create a more streamlined monthly close
  • Hire, train, and develop accounting staff to provide accurate and timely work product and ensure that all accounting functions are performed according to company’s procedures and policies
  • Partner with the Controller to implement and evaluate internal accounting controls and accounting policies and procedures, as needed
  • Assist with special projects as assigned
  • Responsible for identifying opportunities to enhance technology and innovation that will improve departmental effectiveness 
  • Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process including review of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and coordination of timeline with the finance team
  • Support annual external audit
  • Collaborate and develop strong working relationships with cross-functional partners including but not limited to legal, IT, HR, and financial planning and analysis teams
  • Manage accounting team of three. Train, and develop team members and provide periodic feedback regarding performance
  • Assist with preparation and filing of annual financial statements and 701 reporting and update of financials for new disclosures

You have...

  • BS in accounting or equivalent is required
  • Certified public accountant with an “active” status preferred
  • Experience in enabling and managing teams
  • Experience in designing or improving processes
  • Ability to build positive relationships cross functionally
  • 6+ years work experience in accounting/finance
  • 4+ years of experience managing teams
  • Skilled in US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations
  • Recent experience in managing financial statement closes
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion
  • Available to work in person two days a week

At Carbon, we look at the person holistically and carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation.  The pay range for this position is $176,000.00 - $264,000.00. In order to maintain equitable internal pay practices, we aim to hire new employees near the midpoint of $220,000 taking into account your experience, work location, certifications, and the unique skills you bring to the role. Your actual salary will be based on your experience, work location, certifications and the unique skills you bring to the role. If you are not based in our Redwood City office, the range above will be adjusted for the geographical differential associated with your actual work location.
