Are you passionate about building new markets and advancing care for patients undergoing stem cell transplant and cell therapy? CareDx is seeking a strategic, hands-on, and highly collaborative Director of Marketing to help establish CareDx as a leader in the Cell Therapy & Transplant (CTT) setting. This individual will play a central role in the launch of AlloHeme, CareDx’s blood-based surveillance solution for post bone marrow transplant AML and MDS patients, while also supporting commercial readiness planning for additional pipeline assets across the CTT franchise.
This is a high-impact opportunity to shape the brand strategy, market development approach, launch tactics, and execution model for a new CareDx franchise. Reporting to the VP, Cell Therapy & Transplant, this individual will own the development and execution of integrated marketing plans that build awareness, belief, adoption, and pull-through for AlloHeme and future CTT offerings. The role requires a strong balance of strategic thinking and executional excellence, with the ability to translate clinical data, customer insights, and commercial priorities into clear, compelling, compliant marketing programs.
The successful candidate will work closely with the CTT product lead, Sales, Medical Affairs, Marketing Operations, Events, Corporate Communications, Digital, Compliance/MLR, and external agency partners. This individual will also help ensure CareDx is positioned as a trusted partner to hematologist oncologist transplant physicians, lab directors, administrators, and other stakeholders across bone marrow transplant and cell therapy centers.
This is a hybrid in-person/remote position, with the expectation that the Director will be on-site at CareDx’s Brisbane, CA office three days per week to stay closely connected to the team, cross-functional partners, and company culture. While there may be some flexibility to live outside the immediate Bay Area, the role requires regular in-office presence for collaboration, planning, and execution.
Responsibilities include:
- Brand Strategy & Franchise Development – Develop and execute the brand strategy for AlloHeme. Establish CareDx’s differentiated positioning in CTT by building on the company’s transplant leadership while addressing the unique needs of bone marrow transplant and cell therapy centers. Translate market research, competitive intelligence, KOL feedback, customer insights, and commercial priorities into clear strategic plans and compelling messages that support launch readiness, market shaping, and long-term franchise growth.
- AlloHeme Launch Planning & Execution – Lead marketing planning and execution for the launch of AlloHeme, including core messaging, sales materials, digital content, conference presence, peer-to-peer education, PR/communications support, customer-facing resources, and field pull-through tools. Partner closely with cross-functional teams to ensure launch tactics are aligned with clinical data, customer needs, market access considerations, operational workflows, and CareDx brand standards.
- Promotional Strategy & Tactic Development – Develop compelling, compliant promotional strategies and materials for key stakeholder audiences, including hem/onc transplant physicians, lab directors, clinical leadership, transplant administrators, value analysis committees, and other decision makers. Lead creation of sales aids, speaker decks, email campaigns, web content, conference assets, brochures, and other print/digital resources in collaboration with digital and operational marketing.
- Market Development & Customer Engagement – Drive initiatives that increase awareness of CareDx in the CTT setting and support adoption of AlloHeme as part of post-transplant monitoring workflows. Develop programs that communicate the unmet need in post-HCT AML/MDS surveillance, the value of blood-based monitoring, and the importance of standardized relapse surveillance approaches. Partner with Medical Affairs and Sales to support compliant KOL engagement, advisory boards, congress activities, and educational initiatives.
- Pipeline & Commercial Readiness Support – Work closely with the CTT product lead and cross-functional partners to develop commercial readiness plans for additional pipeline assets and potential future CTT offerings. Support market assessment, product positioning, customer segmentation, target audience definition, launch sequencing, value proposition development, and early tactical planning for assets beyond AlloHeme, including future molecular testing and/or wraparound solutions as applicable.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration – Serve as a key marketing partner across Product, Sales, Medical Affairs, Marketing Operations, Events, Corporate Communications, Digital, Sales Training, Customer Experience, Market Access, and Compliance. Ensure CTT marketing initiatives are coordinated across internal teams and executed with clear timelines, ownership, and accountability. Partner closely with Sales Training to ensure the field team is equipped to deliver consistent, accurate, and compelling messages.
- Agency & Vendor Management – Manage third-party agencies, creative partners, market research vendors, and other external partners supporting CTT marketing initiatives. Provide clear strategic briefs, direction, feedback, and approvals to ensure deliverables are high quality, clinically accurate, on brand, compliant, and delivered on time. Ensure agency work is aligned to launch priorities, budget, and business objectives.
- Events, Conferences & Communications – Partner with Events and Corporate Communications to support CTT presence at key congresses and launch-related milestones. Lead conference strategy including development of key messaging for booth, product theaters, and customer engagement materials. Partner with corporate communications on earned/paid media campaigns and with medical on KOL-facing outreach. Ensure all external communications reinforce CareDx’s CTT strategy and brand positioning.
- Insights, Metrics & Optimization – Track marketing effectiveness using appropriate KPIs, including awareness, engagement, field utilization, lead generation, account activation, campaign performance, adoption metrics, and customer feedback. Use insights from field team, market research, customers, and cross-functional partners to refine messaging, optimize tactics, and inform future planning.
- Compliance, Budget & Operational Excellence – Lead marketing materials through the MLR review process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely approvals. Manage marketing budgets, purchase orders, agency scopes, and project timelines. Balance speed, quality, and compliance while maintaining discipline around priorities and resource allocation.
EXPERIENCE:
- Marketing Experience –at least 10+ years of relevant marketing experience in diagnostics, genomics, biotech, pharma, medical device, or other regulated healthcare/life sciences environments. Experience developing brand strategy, launch plans, customer messaging, promotional materials, and multichannel marketing campaigns is required.
- Launch & Market Development Experience – Demonstrated experience launching new products, building emerging markets, or establishing a new brand/franchise is strongly preferred. Experience in complex specialty markets with multiple clinical, laboratory, administrative, and financial stakeholders is highly relevant. The ideal candidate is comfortable creating clarity in ambiguity and developing marketing programs for products that require both clinical belief-building and operational workflow integration.
- Health Care/Life Sciences – Experience in a regulated healthcare environment is required, ideally in diagnostics, genomics, transplant medicine, hematology/oncology, or molecular testing. Familiarity with HIPAA, data privacy, MLR review, clinical evidence translation, and compliant promotional practices is required. Experience in hematologic malignancies, cell therapy, MRD, or complex laboratory services is a strong plus.
- Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration - must be a strong peer leader, self-starter, and collaborator that works effectively across Product, Sales, Medical, and Regulatory to ensure promotional content is clinically accurate, compliant, and strategically aligned. The ideal candidate excels at turning strategy into action, driving alignment across stakeholder groups, and executing initiatives that support both revenue growth and improved patient outcomes. Success in this role requires the ability to effectively collaborate and thrive in a matrixed, mission-driven organization.
- Clinical & Scientific Communication – Proven ability to translate complex clinical, scientific, and technical information into clear, compelling, audience-specific messaging for HCPs, lab directors, administrators, sales teams, and other stakeholders. Must be able to balance scientific accuracy with commercial clarity and avoid over-claiming in a highly regulated environment.
- Agency, Budget & Executional Excellence – Experience managing external agencies, vendors, creative development, media/digital programs, conference assets, and marketing budgets. Must be comfortable moving from strategy to execution, managing multiple workstreams simultaneously, and ensuring deliverables are completed on time and to a high standard.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Life Sciences, Molecular Biology, Clinical Science, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
- MBA, MPH, MS, or other advanced degree preferred.
- Scientific or clinical background is a plus, particularly in molecular diagnostics, hematology/oncology, transplant medicine, genomics, or cell therapy.

This is the anticipated base salary range for candidates who will work in Brisbane, California. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include, but are not limited to, the type and length of experience within the job, the type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives and restricted stock units. CareDx is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
