Career TEAM has an exciting opportunity awaiting a dynamic and highly motivated individual to join our team and excel in the Career Advisor position. The main focus of this position is to work directly with the VIPs to make sure they start and stay in school, match them with appropriate employment opportunities, and assist them in retaining their jobs. The person filling this position reports directly to the Lead Career Advisor. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work on-site at the listed location.

Your Impact on Career TEAM’s Success:
- Ensures VIPs stay in the program, become employed, and are retained on the job
- Counseling VIPs about the various issues affecting education and employment: daycare, transportation, personal/family issues, wardrobe, attitude, goal setting, completing Individualized Employment Plans, etc.
- Conducting in-home and on-the-job visits.
- Providing support and referrals to other agencies when necessary.
- Solving problems.
- Monitoring attendance and punctuality.
- Working collectively with the Job Developer to schedule VIPs for appropriate job interviews, following up with VIPs on interviews, and assisting VIPs in choosing the best job offer.
- Guiding VIPs' professional development and creation of corresponding attitudes.
- Conducts formal assessment of each candidate
- Prepares VIPs for the demands of the classroom program.
- Schedules community organizations, past graduates, and others to visit VIPs in the classroom.
- Helps graduates meet the demands of employment.
- Conducts employer- or home visits as needed to support both the VIP and the employer at the workplace.
- Meets with VIPs for appointments, classroom visits, etc.
- Attends staff meetings and presents data on VIP retention, problems/concerns, and other VIP service issues.
- Adheres to regular VIP contact schedules and records contacts in state systems.
- Attends and facilitates job retention sessions as required.
- Performs special additional assignments and related duties as required.
- Provide service to TANF Participants in New Castle County
- Other duties and projects as needed
To Qualify for This Role, You Must Have:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2+ years of experience combining elements of training, counseling, case management, or other services
- 2+ years of substantial case management experience and the ability to read and interpret policies and procedures
- 2+ years of experience with computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Google Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Mail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Drive
- 2+ years of demonstrated ability working in a dynamic team environment with an aptitude for communication, interpersonal skills to work cooperatively with others, show courteousness, and having a high level of professionalism
- A Demonstrated ability to serve and influence as a role model to customers and motivate them towards achieving goals
- A Demonstrated ability to work in a variety of settings with a culturally diverse customer base with the ability to be culturally sensitive
Exceptional time management skills to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A Valid Driver’s License
Salary: $45,000
Travel: Position may require local travel up to 10%
