As a Software Engineer, you will be building and shaping our Valuations products. In particular, you’ll be one of the key contributors in building new features, improving operational efficiency and creating technical leverage while capitalizing on standardized solutions. Working in close collaboration with both business and other engineering teams within Carta, we navigate a unique and challenging product space that intersects with multiple domains including Cap Table Management, Taxes and Investor Products. This will be a unique opportunity to have an impact not just within your product space, but also across teams within Carta.
In this role you will:
- Design and code highly available, secure, and scalable platforms and user experiences
- Adhere to test-driven development (TDD), maintain high levels of code coverage and automation
- Conduct timely and thoughtful peer code review
- Leverage logging and monitoring of platforms to improve observability
- Instrument system performance and business metrics
The Team You’ll Work With
You will become a part of our Valuations team, a diverse group of learners, builders, experts, and leaders dedicated to transforming asset valuation. Our mission is clear: to value every asset accurately and in real-time. We are at the heart of developing solutions for fast and accurate valuations across a broad spectrum (409A, ASC 820, Warrants, Gifts, etc). We cater to a variety of needs, from facilitating exit events and issuing option grants to providing audit-defensible financial statements.
We support each business unit within Carta. Projects we work on range from new customer user experiences, data platforms and 3rd party integrations. We also build tools for financial analysts to deliver valuations at scale using Carta’s data sets and machine learning platforms.

About You

Additionally,
- You have 4-6 years of full-stack or frontend engineering experience.
- You have a desire to become a product domain expert and refine ambiguous product requirements to deliver customer value.
- You have experience working with SaaS products with microservices.
- You are passionate about some elements of our tech stack (Python, Django, React.js, Datadog, GRPC / GraphQL, Kafka, K8s, AWS).
- You are excited to work with stakeholders across engineering, product, business and marketing and own an initiative end-to-end.
- You see communication as one of your strengths.
- You are eager to move fast, but recognize when to build for the future.
- You are empathetic and see psychological safety and diversity as core foundations of a thriving team.
