Business Operations Associate
Job Description: Business Operations Associate
Cartwheel is an early-stage company building a new kind of mental health program for kids that puts schools at the center. We see our role as supporting school staff who see kids every single day. Instead of going around them, we collaborate with them. This means:
- Earlier intervention
- Higher student and family engagement in care
- Better coordination among the trusted adults in a student’s life
Kids shouldn't just aspire to get out of bed and drag themselves to class. They should be able to experience joy. They deserve to envision and build a life they’re excited to live. If you join Cartwheel, you’ll help make this vision a reality for millions of students across the country. We’re backed by top investors including Menlo Ventures, Reach Capital, General Catalyst, BoxGroup, and Able Partners, and we're looking for mission-driven teammates to join our team.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Business Operations Associate, your responsibilities will include:
- Lead clinical and operational projects including initiatives to improve patient intake and scheduling efficiency, reducing administrative burden for our clinicians, building dashboards to evaluate our team’s performance against outcome metrics, and managing certain on-going operational processes.
- Lead cross-functional strategic initiatives as the business demands. This can include projects like new service lines, new strategic partnerships, new state expansions, etc.
- Support teams across Cartwheel, in particular our Clinical Care team, in evaluating needs, running analyses, and implementing new initiatives to drive quality and performance.
- Flex into other roles internally as demanded by the business. Potential functions could include executive support responsibilities like guiding quarterly and annual planning processes, supporting the Clinical team with a business case for a new clinical program, or supporting the People team with capacity modeling or workforce analytics.
Role type: Full-time
Location: US Remote with quarterly in-person team retreats and co-locating as needed in Boston or NYC. Boston or NY metros preferred.
WHO YOU ARE
- 2-3+ years experience in either management consulting or in a strategic operations role in a healthcare startup
- You love working with clinicians. You love putting your ops and analytical skills to work to support clinical teams in delivering high quality care in reliable and efficient ways.
- Excellent analytics skills. You can run ad hoc analyses using SQL and Google Sheets, you can build dashboards in Looker, and you can keep track of all the nitty gritty details of how our EMR and clinical tools work.
- Excellent business case and financial modeling skills. You can build a financial model to drive strategic decisions.
- Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders, and ability to make a complex financial analysis understandable for a clinician or a care coordinator.
- You love project management. You will become an Asana pro. You will work with a wide variety of stakeholders and effectively get them aligned and drive outcomes.
- You love getting into the weeds. If a dashboard is broken you’re the first to dig through the formulas and the underlying data to understand why. If we need a metric or report but don’t have the data infrastructure built, you’re in our in-house portal manually calculating it.
- You are excited to lead strategic, operational, and clinical projects as an Individual Contributor. This role is not expected to have management responsibilities in the near future.
