Security Specialist (OPSEC)

This position requires an active TS/SCI Security Clearance (with the ability to obtain a CI poly)

 

The responsibilities of the Operations Security (OPSEC) Specialist may include:

  • Support the execution of the day-to-day NGA OPSEC (Operational Security) program.
  • Administer OPSEC program briefings during NEOS (National Emergency Operations Center) and Pre-Deployment Seminars.
  • Support the NGA OPSEC Working Group and become familiar with the KC OPSEC Officers.
  • Assist in maintaining the Directorate OPSEC Program.
  • Conduct content reviews of public release requests in coordination with OCC (Office of Communications) and provide timely reviews and responses.
  • Utilize analytical processes to deny adversary access to information regarding NGA's intentions and capabilities by identifying, controlling, and protecting NGA assets associated with the Government's planning processes or operations.
  • Support the Information Security Program and the Security Education and Awareness Program.
  • Develop and implement appropriate security education materials and awareness products to educate the NGA workforce on security practices and procedures.
  • Coordinate and consolidate information to support formal and informal action items related to OPSEC and the security monitors program.
  • Facilitate the Intelligence Community (IC) Working Groups focused on OPSEC and Security Monitors.
  • Review NGA public releases (e.g., media, television, newspapers), professional academic papers, and briefing presentations for OPSEC compliance, providing written recommendations as necessary.
  • Assist the government OPSEC team and other SIS (Special Intelligence Support) Divisions in defining the program's scope and direction.
  • Help develop promotional materials for the program, such as web-based pamphlets.
  • Update and maintain appropriate records, including databases and hard copies, for OPSEC decision recommendations, meeting minutes, and other documentation.
  • Conduct ongoing research into cutting-edge OPSEC trends.

 

Skills and Experience 

 

Required:

  • An active TS/SCI clearance (with the ability to obtain a CI poly)
  • Expertise and knowledge gained through completion of OPSEC training at the Interagency OPSEC Support Staff (IOSS), the Department of Defense (DoD), the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), and other training venues
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the pre-publication release process.
  • Proven experience applying the standards outlined in DoDM 5205.02 related to Operations Security (OPSEC)

 

Desired:

  • Demonstrate experience in briefing from various levels and training with written and oral communication skills
  • Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC)
  • Demonstrated experience using online communication programs (such as Microsoft Teams)
