Purpose of Position
- The (Assistant) Visual Merchandising Manager is responsible for creating and executing the visual merchandising strategy for physical retail stores globally. This role requires a data-driven approach to strategy and planning, ensuring alignment with consumer shopping behaviours, product and marketing strategies, store architecture, and e-commerce initiatives.
- The manager will act as a key representative of Retail within the GTM process, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent and on-time product launches in accordance with brand standards across all stores.
Job Description
- Develop and implement a data-driven visual merchandising planning strategy that aligns with consumer shopping behaviours, product and marketing strategies, and store architecture.
- Use sales data and other relevant metrics to evaluate and refine visual merchandising strategies continuously.
- Serve as a key representative of Retail within the GTM process, collaborating with teams such as, but not limited to Product Development, Marketing, Retail Creative, E-commerce, and BD to ensure all elements of execution are planned, communicated, and received on time.
- Create detailed and actionable directives for monthly collection launches and quarterly VM directives, ensuring clarity and consistency in execution across global retail locations.
- Work with regional operations teams to localize and execute global directives. Review and evaluate planning methods using store photos, store visits, or virtual walkthroughs with regional teams.
- Ensure VM planning is based on past results and that displays are evaluated and adjusted as necessary based on data. Offer solutions and alternatives when results differ from expectations.
- Drive creative problem solving and process improvement to enhance the customer journey and sales results through visual elements.
- Develop new store concepts, fixtures, and merchandise displays in collaboration with the store design Retail Creative team to improve store productivity and the customer shopping experience.
- Develop zoning plans for new and existing stores, considering sales trends and customer characteristics in collaboration with the Retail Operations Manager and Director.
- Understand the overall launch digital strategy and identify opportunities to align or differentiate to deliver the most positive customer experience within physical retail.
Requirement
- Degree or diploma holder in a design-related discipline.
- 10+ years of professional experience, with 5+ years in a leadership capacity in global and/or regional retail visual merchandising. Candidate with less experience would be considered for Assistant Manager position.
- Proven ability to devise, plan, and manage visual merchandising and strategy for maximum impact and sales.
- Experience in data analysis to understand customer journey and planning.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in using operational, communication, and leadership skills in fast-paced environments with a track record of professional and business success.
- Ability to motivate, drive change, and lead effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in project management, e-commerce, or consumer products is advantageous.
- Strategic, resourceful, organized, collaborative, and results-oriented.
- Passion for technology, fashion, lifestyle brands, and people.
- Proficient in analytical tools, such as Excel, and reporting/BI tools.
- Proficient in verbal and written English.
- Ability to travel as needed for store visits and evaluations.
