Global Supply Manager
As a Global Supply Manager, you will serve as one of Castelion’s highest-level individual contributors in Purchasing and Strategic Sourcing. You will shape and execute enterprise-wide, multi-program supply strategies across global markets and commodities, influencing the supplier ecosystem that enables rapid development, production scale, and long-term competitive advantage.
You will bring exceptional depth in at least one defense-related purchasing commodity—such as avionics, machined/metallic parts, composites/special materials, hardware, chemicals, or a similar category—and the breadth to lead complex work across commodities. You will operate as a trusted advisor to executives and technical leaders, lead the most consequential supplier and commercial decisions, and drive results through influence rather than direct people management. This role sets the standard for strategic judgment, technical credibility, negotiation excellence, and end-to-end ownership at the individual-contributor level.
Responsibilities
- Own enterprise and multi-program supply strategies for critical commodities, technologies, suppliers, and supply-chain capabilities from early development through sustained production.
- Serve as a recognized authority in at least one core defense purchasing commodity—avionics; machined/metallic parts; composites/special materials; hardware; chemicals; or a similar category—while leading cross-commodity initiatives as business needs require.
- Assess global supply markets, supplier ecosystems, manufacturing technologies, geopolitical conditions, capacity, financial health, sub-tier dependencies, and total-cost drivers to inform executive decisions.
- Lead the most complex supplier selections, strategic negotiations, long-term agreements, capacity reservations, tooling investments, make/buy analyses, and commercial escalations.
- Create durable competitive advantage through supplier innovation, design-to-cost, standardization, strategic partnerships, alternate technologies, localization or regionalization strategies, and total-cost optimization.
- Partner with senior engineering, program, quality, manufacturing, finance, legal, security, and executive stakeholders to resolve high-impact tradeoffs involving cost, schedule, quality, technical performance, capacity, and risk.
- Lead enterprise supplier-performance and recovery strategies for critical suppliers; establish executive-level operating rhythms and drive sustained corrective action.
- Own the most significant supply-chain risk and continuity plans, including sole/single-source exposure, long-lead technologies, constrained capacity, geopolitical disruption, sanctions, export controls, financial distress, and sub-tier concentration.
- Set standards for sourcing governance, decision quality, supplier engagement, commercial discipline, and documentation; influence roadmap and investment decisions with fact-based analysis.
- Identify and execute cross-program leverage while protecting program-specific requirements, intellectual property, configuration control, security, and mission assurance.
- Represent Castelion with strategic suppliers and industry partners; build relationships that improve access, responsiveness, innovation, and resilience without compromising ethics or competitive process.
- Coach and elevate other sourcing professionals through technical mentorship, deal review, market knowledge, and reusable best practices, without direct people-management responsibility.
- Ensure all activities comply with Castelion policies and procedures and applicable government, export-control, quality, ethics, cybersecurity, and contractual requirements.
- Travel to supplier/vendor sites 20-25% of the time.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering, finance, materials science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 12+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, purchasing, global supply management, commodity management, supply chain, manufacturing, or a related field.
- Expert-level experience in at least one defense, aerospace, advanced-manufacturing, or similarly regulated purchasing commodity, plus demonstrated ability to operate across multiple commodities.
- Documented success leading enterprise-scale sourcing strategies, complex negotiations, critical supplier relationships, and high-impact cross-functional decisions as an individual contributor.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Deep technical and commercial authority in avionics; machined/metallic parts; composites/special materials; hardware; chemicals; or a comparable defense-related purchasing commodity.
- Experience with global supplier networks, international logistics, regional sourcing, geopolitical risk, foreign ownership/control concerns, and cross-border commercial execution.
- Experience shaping supplier strategy during rapid development, new product introduction, production ramp, and transition to volume manufacturing.
- Executive-level communication, negotiation, influence, and decision-making skills; ability to simplify complex technical and commercial issues into clear recommendations.
- Advanced cost modeling, market intelligence, analytics, and scenario planning using Excel, SQL, or advanced sourcing/analytics tools.
- Knowledge of FAR/DFARS, ITAR/EAR, cybersecurity maturity requirements, counterfeit-part prevention, government property, or other defense-contracting controls.
- APICS, ISM, Six Sigma, or comparable certification; active U.S. Government security clearance or ability to obtain one.
