Role Overview 

The Avionics Lead – Integration / Electromechanical is a hands-on floor leadership role responsible for supporting avionics integration, electromechanical assembly, hardware installation, and related production activities. 

The Lead is expected to maintain strong floor awareness, identify blockers and schedule risks early, coordinate support across multiple teams, and help technicians execute work correctly and efficiently. 

This role will work closely with technicians, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Responsible Engineers, Mechanical Engineering, Planning, Test, and the Avionics Supervisor. 

 

Responsibilities 

- Maintain daily visibility of integration and electromechanical work in progress. 

- Identify blockers, delays, hardware shortages, access issues, tooling problems, drawing concerns, engineering questions, and process gaps early. 

- Drive blockers to the correct support team and follow through until resolution. 

- Communicate schedule risks and delays to the Avionics Supervisor before they impact major milestones. 

- Serve as the first technical point of contact for integration and electromechanical technicians. 

- Support installation of avionics boxes, panels, brackets, grounding hardware, harnesses, sensors, switches, connectors, and other electromechanical assemblies. 

- Help technicians interpret mechanical drawings, electrical drawings, work instructions, torque requirements, routing requirements, and installation specifications. 

- Verify technicians are working to the correct revision and released documentation. 

- Identify fit-up, alignment, tolerance, access, routing, and sequence-of-installation issues. 

- Support troubleshooting when hardware does not fit, mate, communicate, power up, or test as expected. 

- Coordinate work where mechanical, electrical, harnessing, and test activities overlap. 

- Coordinate with Quality for in-process inspections, torque verification, bonding checks, final inspection, and other required acceptance points. 

- Ensure inspections are planned early enough to avoid production delays. 

- Support grounding, bonding, connector mating, hardware locking, torque, and final installation requirements. 

- Support first article, first-build, and vehicle-level integration activity. 

- Capture lessons learned from early builds and help roll improvements into later builds. 

- Train and mentor technicians on integration and electromechanical workmanship. 

- Identify recurring installation or sequencing issues and work with Manufacturing Engineering to improve the process. 

- Maintain strong handoffs between technicians, shifts, Quality, Engineering, Test, and Planning. 

- Provide clear status updates during daily stand-ups and production meetings. 

- Help maintain clean, organized, safe, and production-ready work areas. 

 

 

Qualifications 

- Strong hands-on electromechanical or avionics integration experience. 

- Experience installing avionics hardware, harnesses, brackets, panels, grounding hardware, connectors, or related assemblies. 

- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings. 

- Understanding of torque, bonding, grounding, connector mating, routing, and hardware installation requirements. 

- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. 

- Experience supporting first article, prototype, development, or production builds preferred. 

- Strong communication and organization skills. 

- Ability to train and mentor technicians. 

- Comfortable coordinating work across Engineering, Quality, Test, Planning, and production teams. 

- Must be proactive and comfortable escalating issues early.
