Title: Accountant
Department: Finance & Accounting
Reports To: Controller
Location: NYC Office (Hybrid, 2 days per week in-office)
Salary: $56,000 – $70,000 (Placement within this range is dependent upon experience and location)
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The accountant will support the finance and accounting team in daily and ad-hoc tasks and projects. This is a role for an semi early career professional to gain experience in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Accounts Receivable:
- Assist with billings and collections, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
- Update and distribute collections reports on a weekly basis; discuss issues/questions with Team Leads.
- Monitor and manage cash receipts, including posting payments and resolving discrepancies
- Accounts Payable:
- Assist with vendor onboarding and billings, expense reports verification.
- Ensure proper coding of expenses and adherence to budgets.
- General:
- Assist in maintaining the general ledger, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Respond to inquiries in the Accounting general mailbox
- Perform other general tasks as necessary
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required
- 2-4 years of experience in Accounting
- Salesforce and Intacct experience is preferred
- Possess a strong attention to detail
- Strong proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
- Excellent organizational & interpersonal skills
- Solid communication skills, both verbal and written
- Positive attitude and a strong desire to be a part of a diverse team
- Ability to maintain confidential information
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently, prioritize and manage multiple tasks, and adapt to a fast-paced environment
- Nonprofit experience is a plus
