Test Engineer
Test Engineer (Cloud & Data Pipeline)
Our mission is to improve the performance of athletes and teams, which we do by engineering the premier technology platform for sport. We've been at the forefront of sports technology and science since 2006 - we don't just work in the sporting industry, we are actively changing its future. Our solutions are designed to help athletes and coaches “play smart” in a world where 1% can literally mean the difference between winning and losing.
We work with over 4,600 teams around the world, empowering coaches, managers and trainers in premier teams in the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLS, EPL, AFL, NRL, NCAA and more. We provide the information they need to optimise athletes’ health, game-day readiness, and performance, as well as in-game tactics. Our solutions include wearable technology, video analytics, and athlete monitoring solutions, and we are passionate about helping sports organizations at all levels to better scout, recruit, teach, and win.
WE WANT PEOPLE WHO ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT STATE OF THE ART TECHNOLOGY
We are looking for a talented and driven Test Engineer to join our backend microservices team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, executing, and maintaining both automated and manual test strategies in a complex distributed environment. You will work closely with cross-functional teams—developers, DevOps, and product managers—to ensure that our backend services deliver high-quality performance and reliability. The ideal candidate will combine a strong, “automation first” technical background with practical experience in test automation frameworks, such as Robot Framework, along with the ability to collaborate on manual testing initiatives.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts targeting backend microservices.
- Utilize and extend frameworks such as Robot Framework and Playwright to cover various testing scenarios.
- Integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline to ensure continuous quality assurance.
- Engage with developers and stakeholders to clarify requirements, prioritize test scenarios, and troubleshoot issues.
- Analyze test results and work closely with the development team to rapidly diagnose and resolve defects.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and process improvement initiatives to enhance the overall test strategy.
- Manage and maintain test environments, including setup, configuration, and integration of automated test tools with backend services.
- Monitor performance, reliability, and scalability of microservices to identify potential areas for quality enhancement.
- Perform targeted manual test executions when automated coverage is insufficient.
- Develop and document test cases, test plans, and manual test scripts as needed.
- Execute exploratory testing to identify edge cases and improve overall system resilience.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent real-world experience).
- Proven experience in testing backend microservices with a focus on automation and contract testing.
- Hands-on expertise with test automation frameworks, ideally Robot Framework and Playwright.
- Solid programming skills (e.g., Python, JavaScript, or other relevant languages) to develop and maintain test scripts.
- Familiarity with containerized environments and microservices architectures.
- Experience working with AWS infrastructure.
- Experience with integrating tests into continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- An analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities and excellent attention to detail.
- IoT and Sports tech experience is very desirable
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to clearly articulate technical challenges and solutions
- A proactive approach to learning and implementing new tools or frameworks as needed in a fast-paced environment.
