Cayaba Care’s mission is to improve pregnancy, birth and the postpartum journey for women and their families by reimagining how maternity care is delivered. Our team is focused on building trust-based engagement and wrap-around support for expectant moms at home, in person and virtually, to ensure they have all the social support they need for a successful and joyful pregnancy journey. We leverage technology to support our virtual engagement that allows us to meet all our moms where they are.

We ensure that our members do not feel alone during their pregnancy journey, and that they have a trusted resource for support, resources, and information throughout their pregnancy, delivery and well into postpartum. Cayaba Care does not replace the primary obstetrician or doctor’s relationships. Instead, we support expectant mothers with all other support services that are traditionally not available through their doctors’ offices.

The Role:

Cayaba Care seeks a Head of Payer Strategy and Growth Partnerships to lead and execute our end-to-end growth strategy. This individual will oversee member enrollment, engagement, and retention, build and nurture provider and payer relationships, and scale our market reach through strategic partnerships. Reporting directly to the CEO, this leader will manage and develop a high-performing team and drive sustainable business growth.

The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, mission-driven, and action-oriented, with strong healthcare expertise (particularly with healthcare payers, revenue cycle management, patient engagement, provider relations, and growth levers). They thrive in fast-paced, early-stage environments, know how to balance high-level strategy with tactical execution, and are passionate about improving healthcare access for underserved communities.

Responsibilities:

Member Growth and Acquisition

  • Develop a deep understanding of population of interest, member leads, and current members in order to better reach and understand membership base
  • Lead and expand member acquisition, enrollment, and retention strategies, ensuring a seamless and positive patient experience.
  • Lead outreach team (outbound recruitment calls) ensuring scripts, talk tracks and targeted enrollment techniques to maximize conversion via phone optimized. Lead field operations team (community and provider engagement), and growth marketing teams.
  • Develop and execute targeted initiatives to increase engagement across various touchpoints, optimizing for conversion and retention rates.
  • Build out new market entry strategies, including forecasting enrollment and ensuring scalability.
  • Leverage data-driven insights to refine growth strategies using KPIs such as lead volume, reach rate, conversion rate, and patient activation.

Provider and Payer Partnerships

  • Serve as the main point of contact for payer partners and owning the provider partnership team, strengthening referral pathways and warm handoffs.
  • Develop and professionalize provider and payer relationships, identifying opportunities to optimize engagement.
  • Execute on growth levers within payer contracts, ensuring alignment with business expansion goals. 
  • Effectively communicate Cayaba Care’s value proposition and care model to external stakeholders
  • Represent Cayaba Care for reporting, outcomes, business development and evaluation with external stakeholders and audiences.
  • Serve as the main contact for Cayaba after the contract is signed to ensure adherence, performance, and eventual renewal.

Payer Growth Strategy and Analytics

  • Analyze market trends in women’s health, maternal health and other related sectors to assess and present reimbursement and revenue models to stay competitive.
  • Stay abreast of MCOs and state policies related to maternal health for new opportunities for Cayaba to leverage value-based payment models and new other new business.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and regulations related to contracting.
  • Identify populations, geographies, etc. to support new business.

Payer Revenue Cycle

  • Manage credentialing, billing and collection teams to ensure financial health of Cayaba by optimizing revenue & minimizing losses.  
  • Oversee end to end revenue cycle processes to ensure compliance and adherence to contract terms. 
  • Drive process improvement and optimize opportunities for revenue cycle management that results in greater efficiency and lower cost to collect. 

Strategic Leadership and Cross-Functional Execution

  • Act as a hands-on leader, working across operations, finance, product, data/analytics, and care teams to align on growth initiatives.
  • Synthesize high-level strategy with detailed execution, ensuring measurable impact.
  • Drive brand recognition and market positioning in key communities.

Team Leadership and Organizational Growth

  • Hire, develop, and retain top talent, building a high-performing team that supports care operations, growth, and expansion objectives.
  • Establish clear KPIs and dashboards to track and optimize performance.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and impact-driven execution.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success owning end-to-end growth strategy, ideally in value-based care or healthcare services.
  • Strong understanding of provider partnerships, patient enrollment, payer contracts, and engagement strategies.
  • Experience in B2B2C/D2C healthcare models, patient journey optimization, and leveraging data analytics for decision-making.
  • Ability to balance high-level strategy with hands-on execution, comfortable working at both macro and micro levels.
  • Success scaling a lean, high-growth company, taking it from $XM to $XXM+ in revenue.
  • Track record of developing strong relationships with providers, payers, and healthcare stakeholders.
  • Committed to Cayaba’s mission to improve maternal health outcomes for all communities, especially high risk communities
  • Experience working with diverse teams and patient populations, demonstrating high emotional intelligence and authentic leadership.
  • Comfortable navigating uncertainty, problem-solving in real time, and wearing multiple hats in a fast-moving environment.
  • Strong writer, facility with Excel or Google Sheets to quantify, track, and articulate growth plans and performance

At Cayaba Care, we recognize that great talent deserves great rewards. The base salary for this role is $200,000 - $220,000 per year, depending on skills and experience. Our compensation is competitive and aligned with companies of our size and stage, but that's just the beginning.
