The Mission

We are seeking a Director of Business Development – Private Equity, to join the Sales team. This individual will be responsible for growing Caylent’s footprint within the private equity ecosystem. This includes developing and managing relationships with PE firms, their operating partners, and portfolio company executives, as well as collaborating closely with AWS’ Private Equity Business Development organization. This is a quota-carrying role focused on both net-new business development and expansion of existing relationships.

This role requires a self-starter who is comfortable operating in a dynamic environment with executive-level stakeholders and evolving strategic direction. The ideal candidate brings experience in enterprise or midmarket sales, a foundational understanding of private equity dynamics, and a strong ability to build trust with senior decision-makers.

Your Assignment

  • Develop and manage strategic relationships with private equity firms, operating partners, and portfolio company executives to drive adoption of Caylent’s cloud consulting services.
  • Lead the full sales cycle—from pipeline generation through deal closure—for both new and existing portfolio companies.
  • Serve as Caylent’s primary point of contact for AWS’ Private Equity BD team, managing joint GTM activities and co-selling motions.
  • Customize go-to-market strategies to align with individual PE firm portfolio structures, sector focus areas, and value creation objectives.
  • Collaborate with Caylent’s internal sales, strategy, and marketing teams to develop client proposals, refine messaging, and align on sales initiatives.
  • Represent Caylent at relevant AWS, private equity, and industry events to promote brand visibility and build new relationships.

Your Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in business development, enterprise sales, or partner/channel sales—ideally in cloud consulting, enterprise software, or related professional services.
  • Proven success managing complex sales cycles and engaging with senior-level stakeholders, including C-suite executives.
  • Familiarity with private equity investment models, portfolio operations, and value creation strategies. Direct experience with PE-backed companies is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to operate independently and drive results with minimal oversight, while remaining highly collaborative with internal and external partners.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
  • General knowledge of cloud computing or AWS preferred.

The On Target Earnings (OTE) for this position is $250,000 - $300,000. If you are hired at Caylent, your On Target Earnings (OTE) is determined on factors such as skills, experience, geographic location, and other market conditions. While it's not typical for offers to be made at the top of the range, please keep in mind that the On Target Earnings (OTE) is only one component of your overall compensation. Additionally, you are eligible for the benefits, bonuses, and incentives as listed above in the job description!
