Cayuse is seeking a Solutions Consultant to serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert throughout the sales process. This role partners closely with Account Executives to understand customer business challenges, participate in discovery conversations, deliver tailored solution demonstrations, and help research organizations modernize their research administration, compliance, and animal research operations.

The ideal candidate has experience working within higher education, academic medical centers, healthcare systems, research institutions, or research-focused software environments and can effectively connect customer challenges to business outcomes.

This position is highly consultative and requires strong presentation skills, business process knowledge, and the ability to engage stakeholders ranging from operational users to executive leadership.

 

Responsibilities

Discovery & Solution Design

  • Partner with Account Executives to understand customer goals, workflows, challenges, and strategic initiatives
  • Lead and participate in discovery sessions to identify business requirements and opportunities
  • Translate customer requirements into tailored solution recommendations
  • Develop solution strategies that align Cayuse capabilities with customer priorities

Product Demonstrations

  • Deliver compelling and tailored demonstrations of Cayuse products and solutions. 
  • Customize demo environments to reflect customer use cases and business processes
  • Present to diverse audiences including:
    • Research Administrators
    • Compliance Offices
    • Sponsored Programs Offices
    • IRB, IACUC, IBC, and COI Administrators
    • Research Leadership
    • Executive Stakeholders
  • Articulate business value, operational efficiencies, compliance benefits, and ROI

Sales Partnership

  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert during the sales cycle
  • Participate in account planning activities including stakeholder mapping, competitive analysis, whitespace identification, and executive engagement strategies.
  • Assist Account Executives in developing multi-threaded engagement plans within strategic accounts.
  • Support strategic account planning and deal progression
  • Assist with responses to RFPs, RFIs, security reviews, and technical evaluations
  • Participate in competitive positioning and objection handling
  • Support customer expansion, modernization, and retention initiatives

Product & Market Expertise

  • Maintain expertise across the Cayuse Research Suite
  • Stay current on research administration trends, regulatory changes, and industry best practices
  • Provide market feedback to Product Management and Leadership
  • Contribute to sales enablement and knowledge-sharing initiatives

 Industry Relationships & Network Development

  • Leverage existing professional relationships within higher education, academic medical centers, healthcare systems, and research institutions to identify opportunities, facilitate introductions, and support business development efforts.
  • Maintain and expand a network of research administration, compliance, sponsored programs, and research operations professionals.
  • Participate in industry organizations, conferences, presentations, user groups, and networking events to build market awareness and strengthen customer relationships.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key influencers and decision-makers across the research administration ecosystem.

Thought Leadership

  • Develop reusable demonstration assets, discovery guides, competitive intelligence, and sales enablement content.
  • Serve as a thought leader internally and externally through webinars, conference presentations, customer panels, and industry events.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
    • Research Administration
    • Sponsored Programs Administration
    • IRB Administration
    • IACUC Administration
    • Clinical Research Administration
    • Research Compliance
    • Pre-Sales / Solutions Consulting
    • Research Administration Software
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Experience conducting customer-facing meetings and demonstrations
  • Ability to understand and communicate complex business processes
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel up to 40%
  • Existing professional network within research administration, sponsored programs, compliance, clinical research, or academic medical center communities strongly preferred. 
  • Active participation in organizations such as NCURA, SRAI, PRIM&R, AURP, HCCA, AALAS, or similar professional associations.

  • Achieve certification on assigned Cayuse products within established onboarding timelines
  • Demonstrate proficiency in presenting multiple modules across the Cayuse platform
  • Continuously expand product and industry knowledge

Performance Engagement

  • Support an average of 4–6 demonstrations per week
  • Participate in discovery and strategy sessions for assigned opportunities
  • Deliver tailored demonstrations aligned to customer requirements
  • Deliver demo preparation materials within established timelines
  • Maintain accurate opportunity notes, discovery findings, and demo requirements in CRM

Sales Impact

  • Contribute to opportunity progression and overall win rates
  • Effectively communicate business value and differentiation
  • Support expansion and cross-sell opportunities within existing customers
  • Support attainment of team win-rate goals
  • Contribute to pipeline creation through referrals, industry networking, conference participation, and customer introductions
