Are you passionate about tackling climate challenges and driving sustainability solutions? As a Buildings & Energy Fellow in the Climate Corps Fellowship program, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to impactful sustainability initiatives with the City of Bellevue. This is a hybrid position with the expectation of onsite work on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
In this role, you will support or lead many initiatives in collaboration with the city's sustainability team. Projects and responsibilities will include the Bellevue Clean Buildings Incentive Program, which helps buildings comply with state energy efficiency and reporting requirements, electric vehicle charging infrastructure design, technical assistance, and management initiatives, as well as development and management of a small commercial building benchmark and technical assistance pilot program. You will work on policy and programming research to support program and project design, management, evaluation, and implementation, and will be responsible for many areas such as data analysis, reporting, progress tracking, marketing, communications, outreach, and engagement. Bellevue is a dynamic city that is growing rapidly while also aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 95% by 2050. As Seattle’s largest neighbor, we are a welcoming, multicultural community with many passionate residents and leading organizations committed to reducing their impact on the environment. This position will support existing buildings and energy programs, such as Bellevue’s Clean Buildings Incentive program, and others related to building electrification, renewable energy, vehicle electrification, and sustainability.
What You’ll Do
- Produce, track, manage, analyze, and communicate data.
- Develop and deliver presentations or reports.
- Build relationships with and present to internal or external clients and stakeholders.
- Research programs, policies, or resources, such as partnerships or grants.
- Design, implement, evaluate, and improve initiatives.

What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience.
- Experience in energy efficiency, renewable energy, data analysis, program administration, project management, or related fields.
- Familiarity with building systems, electric vehicles, or electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
- Ability to work in teams as well as independently, carrying out assignments, making independent judgments and/or decisions, and discerning when deferring action to a higher level is required.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and maintain an organized and well-communicated workflow.
- The ability to work onsite on a hybrid basis (Tuesdays & Thursdays on-site). Only candidates currently residing within commuting distance of the site address will be considered.

- Authorization to work in the United States for the duration of the fellowship (SEI is unable to sponsor visas).
- May require occasional moving about to accomplish tasks, moving from one worksite to another, or adjusting or moving objects under 25-50 pounds in all directions.
- Must be 18 years or older to apply.

- Master’s level coursework in engineering, energy systems, or similar experience.

Climate Corps Fellowships are classified under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) as temporary, educational internships that emphasize training and career development, and thus no employment relationship exists, nor is compensation required. However, while not considered traditional employment, Fellows receive a living stipend and professional development support throughout the program.
