Pharmacy Technician
We have an opportunity to join the Alliance as a Pharmacy Technician in the Pharmacy Department.
WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Reporting to the Pharmacy Services Supervisor, this position:
- Assists the Pharmacy Department with internal and external issue resolution and communications requiring specialized pharmacy technical ability and expertise related to medication coordination.
- Reviews and processes prior authorization requests for physician-administered drugs, which includes intake, triage, and associated correspondence, using established criteria.
- Ensures accuracy and performs timely review of member and provider correspondence.
- Assists in the implementation and maintenance of pharmacy programs.

Our mission is to improve member health outcomes and quality of pharmacy services by enhancing care coordination, medication management, and medication adherence in collaboration with our internal teams and community partners.
We handle pharmacy authorizations, Alliance formulary, pharmacy utilization and projects.

- Knowledge of:
- Medi-Cal, Medicare and/or commercial health insurance programs
- General pharmacy prior authorization process
- Standard medical abbreviations and medical terminology
- Drug generic and trade name equivalents
- Computerized drug programs and standard format of National Drug Codes (NDC)
- Ability to:
- Read, understand, and transcribe pharmaceutical information
- Read chart notes
- Problem solve and provide guidance regarding formulary alternatives
- Identify issues of concern, gather and evaluate information, and document recommendations
- Education and Experience:
- Current, valid license in good standing as a Pharmacy Technician issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy
- High school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician (an Associate’s degree may substitute for one year of the required experience); or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be qualifying
OTHER INFORMATION
- We are in a hybrid work environment and we anticipate that the interview process will take place remotely via Microsoft Teams.
- While some staff may work full telecommuting schedules, attendance at quarterly company-wide events or department meetings will be expected.
- In-office or in-community presence may be required for some positions and is dependent on business need. Details about this can be reviewed during the interview process.

The actual compensation for this role will be determined by our compensation philosophy, analysis of the selected candidate's qualifications (direct or transferrable experience related to the position, education or training), as well as other factors (internal equity, market factors, and geographic location).
Typical areas in Zone 1: Bay Area, Sacramento, Los Angeles area, San Diego area
Typical areas in Zone 2: Fresno area, Bakersfield, Central Valley (with the exception of Sacramento), Eastern California, Eureka area
Santa Cruz County Pay Range
$27.08 - $43.33 USD
Merced County Pay Range
$24.64 - $39.43 USD
Monterey County Pay Range
$27.08 - $43.33 USD
