Senior Developer, Trading & Compliance Systems

Interested in joining one of Canada’s top performing asset managers?  We are looking for a Senior Developer for an existing vacancy in our Trading & Compliance Systems Team. Our Trading & Compliance systems handles many thousands of orders per day in more than 70 countries around the world. Our team has presence in Vancouver, Canada and Gurugram, India. We are excited to expand to Toronto to better support our growing 24-hour business. We place high value on maintaining an entrepreneurial spirit and creating a culture where each of us has opportunities to succeed. Our offices currently operate on a hybrid model with a combination of in-office and remote working days throughout the week.

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate with portfolio managers, traders and back-office users to solve business problems and improve efficiencies. Invest time and effort to learn about our order management system and how it integrates with other systems, end users and processes within CC&L
  • Design, plan and implement solutions in an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Keep trading and compliance systems running smoothly through enhancements and operational support.
  • Keep up to date on new technology and industry best practices and how we can apply them within the team.
  • Continuous Improvement – you love to make things better, whether it is a technical problem, improving a business process or workflow within the team.
  • Collaborative Communication – you are collaborative, you like people as much as you like technology, you work well with others and communicate effectively.
  • Problem Solver – you possess an analytical mind and enjoy solving business and technical problems.
  • Automation – you dislike doing the same thing twice when a machine could do it for you. Experience working on Azure DevOps is advantageous.
  • Programming Knowledge – You value well-designed code and have solid programming skills in C#, Angular/Typescript, PowerShell, SQL, or similar languages. Experience of building on Microsoft Azure is desirable.
  • Interest in Investment Management – an interest in learning the details of a broad range of asset classes is essential to succeed in this role.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
  • 8+ years of experience in technology.
  • 3+ years of knowledge in trading and trade booking lifecycle.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with solid technical background are essential as is the ability to multi-task in a high-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work with remote teams spread across different geographies and time zones.
  • Extensive knowledge of SQL.
  • Experience with development in the C#.NET tech stack
  • Understanding and use of design patterns in programming
  • Understanding of SOLID principles of object-oriented design
  • Have a mentorship mindset, to coach and guide fellow team members
  • Work well in both collaborative and individual contributor scenarios.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Azure architecture and development is preferred.
The salary range for this position is $120,000-$140,000. The salary range provided reflects the base salary range for this position as required by legislation. In addition, there is an annual performance bonus which contributes to the total compensation for this position.
