We are looking for Legal Counsel to join our growing Vancouver-based in-house Legal and Compliance Team with direct reporting to the General Counsel. Our offices currently operate on a hybrid model with a combination of in-office and remote working days throughout the week.
 
What You Will Do
  • Provide legal counsel and advice to Connor, Clark & Lunn Financial Group Ltd. and its investment management affiliates on all aspects of their business activities.
  • Work on projects closely with other members of the legal team and assist in the preparation and negotiation of documentation related to client agreements, establishment of new fund structures, fund restructurings and the like.
  • Review and negotiate commercial contracts with clients, service providers and data providers, as well as non-disclosure agreements.
  • Assist in the development of, and research relating to policies and procedures impacting employees, data security, privacy, securities regulatory issues, and other legal and regulatory matters.
  • Assist in the research and analysis of regulatory rules issued by Canadian securities regulators as well as the Securities and Exchange Commission (US) and the Financial Conduct Authority (UK) and the impact these rules and regulations will have on the CC&L Financial Group and our affiliates.
 
What You Bring
  • 2-4 years of legal experience with exposure in corporate/commercial law and/or securities regulatory work, and a desire to work within and learn the asset management industry.
  • A positive attitude and the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment, as well as a desire to learn and develop new skills.
  • An interest in capital markets and the asset management/investment industry.
  • A client-focused and practical problem-solver with a high degree of common sense and business acumen. 
  • Team player with the ability to work independently with minimum supervision and a high degree of personal initiative, with a collaborative and team-oriented mindset and with a curiosity and willingness to learn.  We win and lose together as a team, but we all have an important role.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in French is an asset.
 
The salary range for this position is $125,000 to $160,000. The salary range provided reflects the base salary range for this position as required by legislation. In addition, there is an annual performance bonus which contributes to the total compensation of this position. Further questions may be directed to the HR team during the interview process.
