Chief Financial Officer

Banyan Capital Partners, part of Connor, Clark & Lunn Financial Group, is seeking a Chief Financial Officer for its portfolio company in Vancouver. If you have a knack for details, enjoy finding ways to analyze and improve processes and want to be part of a growth-oriented team in a fast-paced environment then this opportunity is for you! As a strategic partner to the CEO, you will lead the finance function, driving profitable organic and inorganic growth, managing cashflow and the business’ capital structure and promoting disciplined execution across a growing omni-channel retail business. This role will be based in Vancouver, BC and in office.
 
What You Will Do:
  • Serve as a strategic business partner to the CEO, bringing insight and recommendations to drive growth, profitability and working capital efficiency.
  • Own financial management and reporting across the business, including budgeting, forecasting, KPI reporting and performance management.
  • Lead month-end and quarter-end close, financial reporting, audit coordination, and internal controls.
  • Oversee treasury, cash management, working capital, and lender relationships, including credit agreements and covenant reporting.
  • Provide leadership on taxation and compliance matters, working with external advisors as needed.
  • Drive continuous improvement of finance and cross-functional business processes; develop and implement standard operating procedures to drive efficiencies.
  • Lead or support business systems and technology initiatives, including ERP, POS and related implementations and integrations.
  • Build, coach, and develop a high-performing finance team.
  • Partner cross-functionally to strengthen decision-making and execution.
 
What You Bring
 
  • Proven senior finance leadership experience (CFO or senior finance professional) with 10+ years of experience, ideally within retail and/or omni-channel environments. Preference for experience in the auto or truck accessory space or sporting goods sectors.
  • Experience working with private equity sponsors and supporting value-creation initiatives (i.e. growth, operational improvements, M&A).
  • Strong command of financial management, operational planning, reporting, audit, treasury, taxation and credit facilities.
  • Experience leading ERP, POS and other systems implementations and believes in the value of empowering people with modern tools and the role technology plays in maintaining market leadership.
  • KPI-driven and highly analytical, with the ability to translate data into clear business actions and decisions.
  • Hands-on, action-oriented leader with a demonstrated track record of building and developing high-performance teams.
  • Solutions oriented; hold a genuine interest in solving challenges and taking full ownership and for outcomes.
  • Strategic partner; track record of high business engagement bringing valuable input and contributions to executive teams.
  • A high degree of integrity, with the ability to focus on critical business issues through high workload periods.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to get work done through others with clear guidance and coaching
